NATO 'covers up' Libyan death shame

NATO has failed to investigate scores of civilian deaths incurred during its seven-month military campaign in Libya, Amnesty international says. NATO expressed its “regret” for civilian casualties but has taken no steps to initiate an investigation.
"It is deeply disappointing that more than four months since the end of the military campaign, victims and relatives of those killed by NATO airstrikes remain in the dark about what happened and who was responsible" said Donatella Rovera, the Senior Crisis Response Adviser at Amnesty International on Monday.
She stressed that if NATO is indeed dedicated to the protection of civilians, then it cannot simply brush aside the deaths of scores of civilians with some vague statement of regret.”
The Libyan Health Minister of the National Transitional Council estimated that about 30,000 were killed during the conflict.

For now, these are isolated incidents. But in Europe events of this kind have an unpleasant tendency of recurring just when it is darkest...
In Greece:
A 70-year-old man has been arrested after opening fire with a shotgun inside an Athens tax office.

Shortly after 11am, the man arrived at the entrance of Agia Paraskevi tax office and started shooting, causing only material damage. He then entered the building but did not threaten any of the officials.

Police rushed to the scene and succeeded in arresting the man, about an hour later, after encouraging him to drop his weapon.

The perpetrator is now being held in a police station, where police are carrying out a preliminary investigation. (Athens News)

Bedlam erupted at a Greek football match as fans brawled with police before setting the stadium ablaze. Some 57 people were detained and nine police officers were wounded in the chaos.

Hooded individuals started to clash with police officers even before the game between FC Olympiakos and FC Panathinaikos started, as several hundred youths attempted to infiltrate the stadium without tickets.
The conflict continued throughout the match, and its second half was delayed by 35 minutes.
In accordance with Greek Football League policies intended to prevent violence, no Olympiakos fans are allowed to attend games at Olympic Stadium. But the hometown crowd easily found a new enemy in the local police.
