Gulag USA: Activists in California protest constant police brutality against non-whites

A shooting in Long Beach, California is prompting protests over police brutality. Community activists are staging protests outside a hospital where 22-year old Sokha Hor is in critical condition. Long Beach police say Hor was shot because officers thought he was a burglary suspect with a gun. But activists say Hor was unarmed and had committed no crime.

Protesters are demanding an end to police brutality and an independent, community-monitored investigation into the Long Beach Police Department. Activists say the protests started when police refused to allow family members to visit Hor in the hospital. Protesters are calling the shooting another example in a string of cases of excessive force in Long Beach. Source
