Saving America in three steps + Points to remember in the gun control debate

By Locust: America is trapped in insanity by law, just as I’ve been saying for seven years.
For that long I have repeatedly screamed and ranted that Public Law 107-40 (also known as the AUMF) was the bane of our existence, that we are trapped in a DAFT and insane perpetual war, and that we should draft California Congresswoman Barbara Lee as the People’s Candidate for President.
Here is what she recently said:

The administration is using the Authorization for the Use of Military Force passed by the House on Sept. 14, 2001, as one of the justifications for the lethal use of drones. As the only member of Congress who voted against this blank check, I believe now more than ever that we must repeal it.
And here is what I say and have been saying for seven years now:
We could already be out of this mess, but you haven’t done what is necessary.
I will put out these three steps yet again, and hope beyond hope that somehow this time they will take hold, and we can regain our peace and sanity.
1. Stop ignoring Public Law 107-40. We are losing our freedom because you ignore this evil and malicious law that granted unlimited and unchecked power to the Presidency. Barbara Lee is exactly right when she calls for the repeal of this egregious legislation, and that’s why I have repetitiously called for that repeal for, what was it, oh yeah seven long frickin’ years.
We must end Public Law 107-40 before it ends us. We are running out of time.

2. Refer to this insanity by what it is – DAFT, that is, the Defense against Future Terrorists war – and if you don’t agree with that, tell me what the TSA does. Oh right, they defend us against future terrorism.
Stop using the words of the moron Bush, stop giving life to his sick and twisted word. We must win the linguistic battle and use our own words, create our own meme.
Stop the DAFT war!
3. Barbara Lee should be treated with much more respect than she gets. I have many times stated that she was the only person brave enough to stand against the war-mongers and vote no to unlimited war.
The people who want to save the world are always looking for true leaders – there is nobody, nobody, nobody more deserving of Progressive praise and support than Barbara Lee. She alone walked the walk, she alone fought to defend us, and now it’s time for us to support her.
But then, I’ve said all this for seven years. Do you finally hear the words this time?
There you have it, my friends. Follow these three steps. They are the path to peace.
And maybe a 12-year-old child can become a teenager and finally live in a nation that is not trapped in war.

Points to remember in the gun control debate

By Charlie Houser: With all of the debate about gun control continuing, I wanted to remind everyone of the shooting at a Salt Lake City Mall, on February 12, 2007 where an armed off-duty officer was able to stop a massacre in progress.
Wasn’t it nice that someone was armed in the mall that day? If not an officer, any legal gun owner could have stopped Sulejman Talović that February night.
It disturbs me that I have personally not seen any comprehensive reporting on gun violence thwarted by anyone who happened to be present and legally armed, instead focusing only on pushing their agenda for gun control without doing proper research on the matter as I am sure that there are many cases where criminals were stopped because others were armed.
What is the deal with picking on the AR 15? This is a weak gun that is barely sufficient for varmint hunting. They come with big magazines because they are very inefficient killing machines. A trained individual with a 10 gauge shotgun could cause significantly more damage
Gun control regulations are whittling away at our 2^nd amendment rights. It is unfortunate that there are criminally insane and felonious people who will commit atrocities with weapons. However, it cannot be used as an excuse for our president to violate our Constitutional rights.
Removing our 2^nd Amendment right will surely weaken us as a country, both through lack of protection and lowered public morale as we become a country that would give our founding fathers nightmares.
I wish Obama would show half of the initiative to straighten up his self-inflicted economic mess as he has shown in tackling gun control this year. If so, he just might be able to keep a promise for once instead of taking another piece of the American dream.
It was just a few weeks ago when the big issue was attempting to curb the fiscal cliff. The process was laughable.
Then, suddenly gun control was able to divert his attention, which surely has a span of 10 seconds, from the current economic situation that is sure to impact every citizen of this country and perhaps the world as our economy is the machine that makes it all happen.
Only with Obamacare have we seen consistent action with a meaningful follow through that rivals his focus on gun control and circumvention of due process that is fundamental to the American system.
This gun control agenda has taken the form of executive actions designed to diminish the rights of U.S. citizens. It perplexes me that the majority vote could re-elect a man with a track record so poor, only a politician could pull it off.
A true leader should be charged with ensuring the opinion of the majority of citizens is always the priority achieved through democratic process. A true leader should never be concerned with blindly doing the bidding of the emotionally compromised few who may have sincere intentions that cause them to lose sight of the bigger picture.
In this case, the bigger picture is the importance of maintaining the sanctity of our constitution which was drawn up by our founding fathers, men who saw the horrific atrocities of tyranny.
What these men learned is that there is good and there is the tyranny of evil men. Without the ability to protect yourself you can never be free. It is sad to say, but it’s the truth.
I want to end by simply defining the word treason: Betrayal or breach of allegiance or of obedience toward a sovereign or government especially in the Constitution of the United States.
I think all politicians should remember this definition when participating in any effort to manipulate or side step any part of the Constitution. Allegiance makes a man.
