The EU’s Out-Of-Control Intelligence Services (That Don’t Exist)

By Wolf Richter: Brussels, the center of gravity of the European Union and seat of NATO Headquarters, not only teems with lobbyists, diplomats, military personnel, bureaucrats, politicians, Americans, and other weird characters from around the world, but also with spies.

“Brussels is one of the largest spy capitals in the world,” said Alain Winants, head of the Belgian State Security Service VSSE. He guesstimated that there’d be “several hundred” plying their trade at any one time, chasing after a broad array of topics, from trade issues to security policies.
Yet officially, the EU itself doesn’t have an intelligence service of its own. It’s dependent on the national intelligence services of the member states that supply it with “finished intelligence.” Officially. In reality, it has been building an intelligence apparatus of six services so far, some of them brand new, populated already by 1,300 specialists. But because they’re officially not conducting direct covert operations – though they do go overseas, including to Libya during the Arab Spring! – they simply deny being intelligence services.
Thus, four of them have finagled to escape democratic oversight and control by the European Parliament. Even in the US, the Intelligence Community is accountable to the Congress. Not so in the EU.

Strip Poker Charity, For Markets' Sake - Max Keiser with Pierre Jovanovic

Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert discuss the girl band cheering for quantitative easing and the former Bank of England economists charging George Osborne with deploying a 'reckless' Help to Buy housing scheme designed, they say, "to guarantee maximum damage to the UK's long-term growth prospects and its fragile credit rating." In the second half, Max talks to Pierre Jovanovic, the author of "Blythe Masters," about the latest market manipulation scandal to hit JP Morgan and what it means for the future of Blythe Masters, the Head of Commodities at the bank. Elm House…..’part of a loosely organised, wider network of paedophiles and pornographers’

Like J Edgar Hoover denying the existence of the Mafia, the British Establishment continues to dismiss the evidence of organised systemic child abuse. But the wall of denial is rapidly crumbling.

The Slog: Following yesterday’s Slogpost about the Kincora Boys Home in Ulster, I’ve had several heartfelt and illuminating emails from former residents, as well as the relatives of those who suffered….and from the children of those involved in a cover-up that still pricks their collective conscience. The following extract is typical:
‘There are many things I would like to say, but have to give it some more thought, even though I’ve spent the last 20 plus years doing just that….There is so much I want to say and shout out, it’s driven me to the brink of “Insanity” – having played the consequences out in my mind, anyone able to read it would think it was a Parody of le Carré. I honestly believe what happened in Northern Ireland will never honestly be told. In my opinion Kincora (tip of an iceberg) can never be fully exposed, especially now there is a semblance of “peace.”
Emails about associated miscarriarriages of justice continue to pour in:

Ponzi Banksters Say Cyprus' Capital Controls Will Continue Until Morale Improves

Tyler Durden's picture Proving that in Europe the logic behind the saying that "the beatings will continue until moral improves" is alive and well, was the announcement by the Cyprus central bank head Panicos that capital controls in the country will remain in place until confidence returns. We'll let that sink in for a minute.
From AP:

Panicos Demetriades said the Central Banksters want to eliminate these controls as soon as possible, but it has to first make sure that trust in the banksters has recovered sufficiently. He said a rush of withdrawals would put additional strain on the banks that they can hardly afford right now.

"We have to keep in mind the dangers of easing (restrictions) overly quickly," Demetriades told a press conference. "We have to be careful with these relaxations. It's more important to see how trust can be restored in the banking system."

The Price Of Copper And 11 Other Recession Indicators That Are Flashing Red

By Michael Snyder: There are a dozen significant economic indicators that are warning that the U.S. economy is heading into a recession.  The Dow may have soared past the 15,000 mark, but the economic fundamentals are telling an entirely different story.  If historical patterns hold up, the economy is heading for a very rocky stretch.  For example, the price of copper is called "Dr. Copper" by many economists because it so accurately forecasts the future direction of the U.S. economy.  And so far this year the price of copper is way down.  But that is not the only indicator that is worrying economists.  Home renovation spending has fallen dramatically, retail spending is crashing in a way not seen since the last recession, manufacturing activity and consumer confidence are both declining, and troubling economic data continues to come pouring out of Asia and Europe.  So why do U.S. stocks continue to skyrocket?  Will U.S. financial markets be able to continue to be divorced from reality?  Unfortunately, as we have seen so many times in the past, when stocks do catch up with reality they tend to do so very rapidly.  So you better put on your seatbelts because a crash is coming at some point.

Modern Bankocratic Shills vs Universal Modern Debt Jubilee + LK & WB7

Angelo Agathangelou: Recount your own experience of promises made and then witness the lot of the leader of a party, Clegg or indeed even Cameron and then imagine the position of a lowly councilor or backbench MP. Then cast your eyes to the unelected ex Goldman Sucks brigade of so called technocrats running amok on the continent. Surely even the lame stream media version of events shows the utter falsehood of premise of even the apparently elected party politicians and therefore the aged inadequacy of our entire current political system.
Having worked with the conservatives whilst campaigning for father’s rights, this has been my experience at first hand and I report it out of a sense of duty to the many local people, every day individuals under a yoke of oppression who have shown much support. I repeat there is no real democracy in a group of more than 150 people and as I have been saying and pushing here since 2006 the only way forward is open direct government and the scrapping of all restrictive laws, corporate self interest laws etc., or all restrictive laws save for the protection of the individual and their tangible property (under £100,000,000).
I do not accept the notion of intellectual property. It is hegemony by another name and by no means free market capitalism.

RFID & The Fiat Paper Trail: The Death of Cash & Virtual Currencies Bright Future

goldsilverbitcoin: US researchers have introduced a new way of embedding traceable chips within so-called “smart” paper so that banksters and fascist governments can guard against counterfeiting and even track the usage of paper money.

The innovation is perhaps the last after many centuries of fiat currency, considering the rise of virtual currencies in recent months and years.
The new technique of embedding radio frequency identification chips (RFID) in paper was developed at North Dakota State University in Fargo. Researchers used a patent-pending technology known as Laser Enabled Advanced Packaging (LEAP) so as to transfer and assemble the RFID chips onto paper.
Developers believe such “smart” paper could lead to new types of banknotes, legal documents, tickets and smart labels.
“I believe our scheme is the first to demonstrate a functional RFID tag embedded in paper,”
