MHRA Whoopi Goldberg (on The View): “She deserved to be slapped!”

A video called Man smacks the soul out of girl on the NY Subway has gone viral. Notice the double standard: who started hitting here? AVfM
Whoopi Goldberg once again is a font of common sense and apparently, what she’s saying is beginning to penetrate with some of her audience and some of her cohosts.

Today7Clips: The women of ABC’s The View can pretty much all agree on one thing: Sometimes when a woman is smacked by a man, she doesn’t deserve any sympathy. A viral video posted online last weekend shows a group of young women taunting several young men on a New York subway train. The video climaxes when one of the men aggressively smacks one of the more obnoxious women in the face, leading to a brawl with the train still in motion.

“If you slap anybody — but particularly women — if you slap, put your hands on somebody, you cannot be guaranteed that he’s not going to slap the (blank) out of you,” said View co-host Whoopi Goldberg on Wednesday. “I know a lot of people feel like, ‘oh, no, a man should never hit a woman.’ This is why you have to get checked.”

Co-host Rosie Perez said when she saw the video, she also thought the girl “needed to get slapped.”

“She definitely needed to get slapped,” said guest host and singer Ashanti.

Nicolle Wallace, ever the bore on the really juicy topics, declined to offer her own opinion. “I dunno, I’m Greek. We just yell at each other,” she said. “I don’t know anything about the slapping stuff.”
