Pediatrician Alexandre Rotta describes viewing the circumcision of a baby boy during his early medical training and what he's learned about this issue since meeting activists protesting the American Academy of Pediatrics conventions.

After 24 years as a member, Alexandre Rotta left the American Academy of Pediatrics over their 2012 circumcision policy.

Alexandre Rotta, MD, FCCM, FAAP, is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care and the Linsalata Family Chair in Pediatric Critical Care and Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. He also is Professor, Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
