Västra Götaland Parliament: Genital Mutilation Of Boys Is OK

By SWEDEN. VÄSTRA GÖTALAND. The County Council, the policy making assembly of Västra Götaland, voted yesterday upon a motion that would further reinforce the legality of genital mutilation of boys (circumcision).
Jonas Andersson of the Sweden Democrats argued in front of the assembly that the alteration of children’s genitals without a proper medical reason is a violation of children’s human rights and that it stands to reason that young boy’s human rights ought to also be respected in Västra Götaland and in Sweden at large.
Nevertheless, the motion was passed with an overwhelming vote, showing once again the backwardness of the political establishment in terms of the evolving understanding of the world.
The motion passed with 131 votes “For”, no abstentions and 14 votes “against”.

The members who voted in favor of extending the human rights protections to boys are from the political party Sverigedemokraterna (Sweden Democrats) – a party routinely slammed by the Swedish State-funded Mainstream Media as “far-right” for their stances on public order and the rule of law.
Members of all the other political parties – Christian Democrats, Social-Democrats, The Leftist Party, The Green Party, The Centre Party, the Moderate Party and the Liberals voted in favor of continuing to keep genital mutilation of boys legal.

The Sweden Medical Association, which represents 85% of all physicians in the nation opposes the legality of ritual circumcision, in line with the recommendations of medical associations in Denmark, Norway or the Netherlands.
17% of Sweden’s population resides in Västra Götaland, a county whose formal capital is the widely known Swedish city of Gothenburg.
