To Kill A Mockingbird: All Men Are Tom Robinson Now

Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, passed away today. In remembrance, here's Dean Esmay’s MHRM classic review of that story.
By I was asked recently by someone still learning about the Men’s Human Rights Movement if there were any books, movies, or other media that are generally popular with or illustrative of what the movement is all about. He was really surprised when I mentioned Harper Lee’s 1960 masterpiece, To Kill a Mockingbird. To me that’s funny; I think Harper Lee’s masterpiece more relevant today than ever.
Perhaps one of the great tragedies of forcing kids to read “the classics” while they’re in school–and To Kill a Mockingbird is assigned reading in schools all over North America–is that they don’t learn to love books like this, they learn to view them as a chore. So they move as quickly through them as they can, and then forget them. On the other hand, maybe it’s a hidden blessing, as an article like this one might suddenly prompt them to remember it, and look at it anew as adults.
What most people dimly remember about Mockingbird is that it’s a movie about racism in America’s Old South. And while racism is an undeniable component of the story, a deeper examination shows that it is about far more, and if the only lesson we are to draw from it is “racism is bad,” we’ve missed almost everything important about the book.

As War On Cash Escalates, Cash Lovers Fight Back

It would be fatal if citizens got the impression that cash is gradually taken away from them Bundesbank President Weidman.
By Don Quijones: Over the last couple of days, bureaucrats at the European Commission and European Central Bank have expressed a keen interest in withdrawing the €500-note from circulation – barely a week after former Standard Chartered CEO Peter Sands published a report calling for the exact same measure. Allegedly the currency of choice for organized crime outfits around the world, the so-called “Bin Laden bill,” accounts for close to a third of the total amount of cash in existence in the Eurozone.
Then on Tuesday, Larry Summers, in an effort to keep his name in the media by hook or crook, called for the death of the $100 bill, though he lamented that removing existing notes was probably “a step too far”:
But a moratorium on printing new high denomination notes would make the world a better place. In terms of unilateral steps, the most important actor by far is the European Union. The €500 is almost six times as valuable as the $100. Some actors in Europe, notably the European Commission, have shown sympathy for the idea and European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi has shown interest as well.

Chump Sides With The FBI Against Apple; On Torture Proclaims “Water Boarding Is Fine But Not Tough Enough”

When Donald Trump was asked about Apple’s decision, Trump did not bring up the complexity of the situation, the constant battle between government and individual, between private and public selves, between technology and law enforcement. He did not commend Apple for trying to stave off government’s incursion into our personal details. He did what Trump does: He came up with the easiest, simplest, basest possible reaction to an endlessly complicated issue, and he ran with it.
On Fox & Friends this morning, Trump said, “To think that Apple won’t allow us to get into her cellphone? Who do they think they are? No, we have to open it.”
– From Bloomberg
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from the 2016 election season is the obvious fact that the GOP base has absolutely no interest in freedom, civil liberties or the Constitution. The huge success of the megalomaniac statist Donald Trump, as well as the pitiful performance of Rand Paul, has proven this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Does Rape Mean Anything?

johntheother: If you want to remove due process and evidenciary inquiry from rape accusations - just make it not a crime - simple!
If "rape" is nothing more than regret after unsatisfying sex, then why is it still a crime?
If lying about your job to get laid is "rape" why is that still a crime?
If rape is because a woman meant no when she actually said yes - why is rape still a crime?

The UK Government, BDS And The Jews

Angelo Agathangelou: For the record, I boycott all Israeli products and being against patent and copyright fascism I do not consider such intellectual property bought by the slight of hand known as usury by Zionist Jewish oligarchs worth the paper they are written on either. I adhere to the ideals of kopimi around the world who agree that information and ideas want to be free. I encourage everyone to do the same and to fly the flag of Palestine as I do on the front of my property in the UK and Cyprus, in defiance of the reprehensible state of Israel, all the Jews who support it and our bought and paid for governments.
By Gilad Atzmon: The British government has issued new directives aimed at preventing public entities, universities and student unions from boycotting Israeli products. The new rules authorize the British government to take legal action against organizations that impose such boycotts.
Even as a supporter of every form of resistance to Israel and Zionism and a supporter of the BDS principle, I am thrilled by these new draconian measures, as I am always delighted when Jewish power manifests its true face. There is a problem though. BDS has never taken on Jewish power. BDS is in itself a manifestation of Jewish power.

Sanctions Can Be Applied To Russia, But It Is Illegal To Apply Sanctions To Israel

By Paul Craig Roberts: In 2007 two distinguished scholars, John J. Mearsheimer and Stehen M. Walt, published a book, The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy. The book made a convincing but understated case that the tiny country of Israel, which consists of land stolen in the 20th century, has undue influence on the U.S. government and American foreign policy. http://www.amazon.com/Israel-Lobby-U-S-Foreign-Policy-ebook/dp/B000UZQIF6/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1455848615&sr=1-1&keywords=Walt+and+Mearshimer
The Zionist lobby went to work on the two scholars. They were called every name in the book despite having done nothing but show that Israel has too much influence over U.S. foreign policy.
Today Israel has even tighter control over the Western world and has had democraticgovernments pass laws that criminalize participating in boycotts of Israel for Israel’s ongoing illegal seizures of Palestinian land.
