Feminism Is On Trial - Never Forget That

By Anti-feminist Praxis: In the beginning was the world. Then, feminism emerged from the womb of history. What matters is the order of appearance: we were here first and feminism showed up later. That is a fact of key importance:  one should bear this in mind continually, and make continual reference to it.
Among other things, feminism is ideology – meaning, a body of ideas which embrace self-conception and self-description. However, it is more than ideology because it is more than self-conception or self-description. Feminism is situated both within its own understanding and within the understanding of the world at large. This makes feminism a subject for itself, and an object for the world, which means that two separate dimensions of understanding must be considered: the feminist-subjective and the feminist-objective.
To say that feminism is on trial means it is under the evaluative gaze of an “other”, an outside intelligence which is specifically not feminist and views feminism in highly objective terms. We contend that feminism lacks complete understanding of itself, and that only non-feminist alterity can supply the needed information to remedy this lack.
We further contend that such understanding, if it should arrive, would spell the end of feminism altogether because lack of self-awareness is a critical feminist feature. Therefore, it is not in the feminist interest to gain such understanding – because this would render feminism non-viable.

“In Gaza, Dreams Never Turn Out The Way We Want”

By Sarah Algherbawi:On the morning of 20 July 2014, Khaled Hamad, 25, took advantage of a lull in the relentless Israeli offensive against Gaza – then just under two weeks old – to take a break to discuss names with Hala Shehada, his wife, for the baby they were expecting.
Hala Shehada opened a photography business using the camera that her husband Khaled Hamed left at home the day he was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Abed Zagout
Then he went back to work. Kissing the woman he had married just three months earlier, the photojournalist took off in an ambulance and headed for the Shujaiya neighborhood to document the violence and destruction that rained down on Gaza in those days.
He would never return.
Today, Khaled’s widow is one of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza learning to cope with the grief, injury and loss that is the overwhelming legacy of that devastating 2014 offensive. Like many of those, Hala is only slowly recovering her balance and finding a way to move forward with the couple’s daughter, Toleen, the name they had both agreed to on that fateful July morning.
“For two years, I saw the sun only once a week, and found no sanctuary other than sleeping,” Hala told The Electronic Intifada.

Proposals To Increase Number Of Female UK MPs Rejected

By Mike Buchanan, J4MB: Good news in The Guardian. It’s not often I use those words in that sequence.
Maria ‘Manatee’ Miller and Sophie ‘Doughnuts’ Walker of the Wimmin’s Equality Party must be howling at the moon. It’s a good day to be alive. Is the Conservative government finally finding some spine by saying ‘No’ to these relentless harridans? More, please.
Manatee and Doughnuts remind me of something we posted onto our YouTube channel two months after we launched J4MB in 2013 – here (cartoon video, 2:10). A hapless male interviewer in a TV studio interviews Wilhelmina Ballbreaker, from the feminist charity, ‘Equality for Women’. Her character was clearly inspired by Hitlery Clinton.

"Greatest Evacuation In History" - 650,000 Ordered To Leave Florida, USA

By Tyler Durden: In what spokesman Michael Hernandez describes as "the biggest evacuation in history," Miami-Dade has expanded its mandatory evacuations orders to Zone C, forcing over 650,000 to leave Florida in a "traffic nightmare" as Cat-5 Hurricane Irma bears down.
An earlier order included just Miami Beach, other low-lying and barrier island areas and all mobile-home residents, but as the storm grew in intensity and the cone of uncertainty narrowed, County Mayor Carlos Gimenez issued the order this afternoon expanded to Zone C.
The expansion now covers Zone B, which encompasses Brickell, Miami’s downtown area and South-Dade, including parts of Cutler Bay, Florida City and Homestead. Evacuation orders also touch Zone C, which includes parts of Coral Gables, South Miami, Miami Shores and North Miami Beach.
