Spies instead of help - CIA sent operatives into Pakistan after a deadly Kashmir quake

When a 7.6 magnitude earthquake ripped through Pakistan in 2005, the whole world responded. Around 79,000 people were killed in the quake, one of the deadliest in recorded history. The US was there to help, too. At least that was their story.
After a massive quake centered near Kashmir devastated the eastern world, the United States was one of dozens of nations that offered aid in the immediate aftermath. Within a month, the US Defense Department had deployed nearly 1,000 personnel to respond to the disaster and the United States Agency for International Development sent millions worth of monetary assistance.
Also deployed, according to a new book, was a stealth team of spies.
Authors Marc Ambinder and DB Grady explain in their latest joint collaboration that as the US rushed to respond to the Kashmir quake, America took advantage of the disturbance. Under the guise of a humanitarian effort, spies were deployed into Pakistan with the mission of infiltrating both al-Qaeda and the Pakistani intelligence network. The revelations are published in the duo’s new book, The Command: Deep Inside the President's Secret Army, and in it they reveal to the public for the first time allegations over how the Joint Special Operations Command has done much more than the world realizes.

Quote Of The Week

Tyler Durden's picture

Self-explanatory:
“Whoever controls the volume of money in our country is absolute master of all industry and commerce…and when you realize that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by few powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate.” – President James Garfield, 2 weeks before his assassination.

Germany's smear campaign against Greece

Ambrose Evans-PritchardGermany’s Wolfgang Schäuble is entering into ever more dangerous waters. His apparent demand that Greece postpone elections scheduled for April, and impose a technocrat junta (a l’Italiana) for another year without PASOK and New Democracy, takes your breath away. Is this really the position of the German government? Greek democracy be damned?

I presume he has seen pictures of the blackened buildings below the Acropolis and yes, the evidence is everywhere: a neo-classical house near my hotel at Monastiraki metro station was completely gutted, as was a building across the road. (There were four homeless sleeping in the cold alley next door, being comforted by a young volunteer.)

ACTA error: Democracy not found

As European parliaments reject the Anti-Counterfeiting trade Agreement on human rights grounds, some are asking why it was signed in the first place.
It looks like some of the countries who signed ACTA in Tokyo on January 26 are already having second thoughts.

I don’t know why I signed ACTA, former Romanian prime minister Emil Boc said on February 6.
We made insufficient consultations before signing the agreement in late January," said Polish PM Donald Tusk on February 3, implying that his government had not taken steps to fully "ensure it was entirely safe for Polish citizens.”
A few days later Slovenia's foreign minister, who signed the agreement on behalf of her country, apologized for doing so: "Quite simply, I did not clearly connect the agreement I had been instructed to sign with the agreement that, according to my own civic conviction, limits and withholds freedom of engagement on the largest and most significant network in human history, and thus limits particularly the future of our children."
Lithuanian Justice Minister Remigijus Simasius wrote in his blog: “I don’t know where it came from and how it originated, but I don’t like that this treaty was signed skillfully avoiding discussions in the European Union and Lithuania.”

Amerika: Land of The Snitch

What you are about to watch is ridiculous. It's absurd. But it is all the more ridiculous because it reflects what is really happening in society. It is the first 6 minutes from Alex Jones' new documentary- which will premiere at both of his upcoming "Blueprint to Defeat the New World Order" speaking events in Dallas, TX and Orlando, FL. "

This excerpt, "AMERIKA: Land of the Snitch" is the humorous intro to a very serious documentary shedding light on the real threats that humanity faces, as the system tries to distract us with the false threats of terrorism, climate change and more.

Monsanto Guilty Of Chemical Poisoning

A French court ruled that a controversial US biotech company Monsanto is guilty of unintentional chemical poisoning of a French farmer. The verdict sets a French precedent for pesticide-poisoning and more cases are expected to follow.
Grain farmer Paul Francois, says he suffered a number of neurological problems, including memory loss, stammering and headaches, after inhaling Monsanto's Lasso weed killer in 2004. He blamed the company for failing to provide adequate warning labels on its products.
"I am alive today, but part of the farming population is going to be sacrificed and is going to die because of this," Reuters quoted Francois as saying.
The present case is not the first of its kind. All previous health claims have reportedly failed because of the difficulties with proving the links between health issues and exposure to pesticides and other chemicals. Francois’s claims appeared to be easier to substantiate because he could describe a particular incident – the inhaling of a particular pesticide while cleaning the tank of his crop sprayer. The man was only able to obtain his work invalidity status after a court appeal.

Capital Account Interview Nigel Farage, "I think we're heading for a revolution of some kind in Greece"

Today was supposed to be a meeting of EU Finance ministers to push through the bailout of Papademos' technocrat led government in Greece. This decision cam after the Greek parliament already passed brutal new austerity measures and privatization plans while their people were outside rioting and burning the center of the ancient city to ashes, including the historic Attikon theater to the ground. The violence perpetrated against the protestors as well as the violence perpetrated by the protestors was extreme, and Papademos stated in Parliament that such violence "has no place in a democracy." Unfortunately, Greece has ceased to be a democracy according to Nigel Farage. He gave a speech before the European Parliament this morning, where he took the TROIKA to task for acting like an imperial power, pressing its boot on the throat of the Greek people.
