TWO WORDS: SCREW THAT.

by
Friedrich von Hayek, a major figure in the Austrian school of economics, wrote in his seminal work the Road to Serfdom,
“By giving the government unlimited powers, the most arbitrary rule can be made legal; and in this way a democracy may set up the most complete despotism imaginable.”
It’s hard to ignore Hayek’s prescient warning when you hear about the US government’s newest (and 17th) spy agency that it wants to roll out… because hey, 16 spy agencies just isn’t enough.
Or the Transportation Security Administration ‘aggressively screening’ a 7-year old girl with Cerebral Palsy at JFK Airport in New York (causing the family to miss their flight)… and then later issuing a statement defending its agents’ actions.
Or Congress authorizing the IRS and State Department to revoke US citizens’ passports on suspicion of tax delinquency; as of last week, the bill has passed both the House and Senate, and is now awaiting a final agreement before going to the President for signature.

'US bent on destruction of Middle East countries'

A third explosion rocked Syrian city of Idlib on Monday, hours after twin bomb blasts killed more than 20 people in the northwestern city. Casualties are feared in the third blast which shook the university neighborhood in Idlib on Monday. Activists say at least 20 people were killed and dozens of others were injured in twin explosions targeting the Air Force Intelligence headquarters and the Military Intelligence buildings in Idlib earlier in day.

GATA's Bill Murphy exposes how the Gold Cartel is Bombing the Market for Precious Metals

In one of his writings, a leading English art critic of the Victorian era, John Ruskin, told the story of a man who boarded a ship carrying his entire wealth in a large bag of gold coins. When a storm hit a few days into the voyage and the decision was made to abandon ship, the man strapped the bag around his waist, jumped overboard, and sank straight to the bottom of the sea. The man's body was found with the wreck of the ship many years later. Reflecting on this, Ruskin asked "Now, as he was sinking, had he the gold? Or had the gold him?"

Key Underwear Bomber Witness Runs for U.S. Congress

I made the decision to run for U.S. Congress because I believe I can use the talents I honed at trial courts and in building my own small business from the ground-up to be an honest and capable legislator. Beyond that, I feel a call to duty on behalf of the people of the 7th District, the State of Michigan and the United States to work to put a stop to corruption and dishonesty in the political system. Payback for the liberators: Iraq prepares to shatter

Practically unreported outside the country, Iraq is preparing to shatter into ethnic fragments. The goal of a united, democratic Iraq built on the ruins of the Ba’ath state is nothing but an empty memory.
The fragile truce among the country’s ethnic groups is bad enough in itself. But far more serious is the progressive advance of a Shiite autocracy and the virtual dictatorship of the Iraqi premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
The key power-sharing agreement between Shiites and Sunni religious factions is in increasing disarray as al-Maliki imposes his personal stamp of universal authority. In short, he is turning into a replica of Saddam Hussein, which is precisely what I pointed out in my earlier coverage of what is going on over there.
Bahaa al-Araji, a leading follower of the cleric Sayyid Muqtadā al-Ṣadr’s ranks in the Iraqi parliament, compares the situation to a ‘primed time bomb that might explode at any moment.’ He went on to accuse al-Maliki directly of conspiring to exploit the political impasse brought about by ethnic tensions in order to impose a direct personal dictatorship.
