2012 the year it never stopped raining

I’ll Gladly Pay You Double Last Tuesday…

for a hamburger yesterday.
Trade with Dave: It’s one thing to be such a Wimpy banker that you won’t lend money.  It’s something else when you make people prepay for the pleasure of doing business with you, accessing your network and paying “member” fees.  Is it time to eat your spinach?

The Bank of England a bit low on stocks attempts to make the most out of flows even if they’re in reverse.

Syria: Half of Homs Destroyed + Syria Just a Part of the West's Battle - Homs Professor

"When they (poly-ethnic Syrian students) start talking,
there is no problem."
Morris: Intellectuals are targeted by sophisticated snipers - using computers and cameras. Travelling from Homs is difficult - it is not known who is manning the road blocks.

Canada’s White Racist Government

Wayne Madsen: By all measures of governing standards, the Conservative government of Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper embodies the same racist policies as that of the governments of the former Rhodesia and apartheid South Africa. The Harper government’s patronizing policies over Canada’s First Nations is a case in point. Coupled with Canada’s abhorrent support for Israel’s expansionistic Zionist policies at the expense of the people of Palestine, the Harper government’s attempt to wrest control of resource-rich lands from Canada’s indigenous peoples for exploitation by multinational corporations is reminiscent of the same policies that saw native lands of South Africa and Rhodesia crudely exploited by DeBeers and British American Tobacco…

The Harper government represents the most right-wing government in the recent history of Canada. With its Anglo-Canadian base, it has alienated the French-speaking province of Quebec, where independence sentiment has been renewed; Muslims and Arabs, with its pro-Zionist policies; and Canada’s First Nations, with its attempt to grab native lands protected by treaties. The only area where the Harper government has shown itself to be “liberal” is that of gay rights. It should be recalled that favoring rights for homosexuals is not necessarily liberal. After the 1934 Nazi Party purge of Ernst Rohm and his coterie of working class homosexual supporters, gay Nazis like Reinhard Heydrich and Baldur von Schirach who originated from the German elite were permitted to hold high office and operate more or less in the open. In the Canadian government of today, reputed homosexuals like Foreign Minister John “Rusty’ Baird and Immigration Minster Jason Kenney, sometimes called Canada’s deputy prime minister, follow in the footsteps of Heydrich and von Schirach in frolicking with fellow Tory gays at “Fabulous Blue Tent” parties in Ottawa. Similar parties in Berlin were attended by some of the Nazi party’s top lieutenants at the height of Adolf Hitler’s reign.

Man-made tornadoes may produce green energy + It will be like a fun fair for insects and birds + great anti drone device

A tornado forms in the sky above Aken some 150 kilometers.(Reuters / Holger Otto)
RT: Massive man-made twisters reaching to the skies from cyclopean structures on the ground may be the future of suburban landscape. A Canadian firm is developing the technology to use the tornadoes to produce electricity and assures it would be safe.
The company, AVEtec Energy Corporation, is working on a proof-of-concept device after winning this month a grant from The Thiel Foundation, a non-profit organization created by PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel. The machine is meant to make a rotating column of air that sucks air from its base like a natural twister.
The company already built a four-meter diameter prototype and will now use the grant money to construct a version twice as big, which it hopes will produce a 40-meter tall vortex with a diameter of 30 centimeters.

“Power output increases geometrically with size, so commercialization will become economically viable when we build a 40-meter diameter prototype in 2015,”

Chilling economic report strikes fear into CEOs

By : The CEO said he had been reading a new paper from Boston Consulting Group headed “Ending the era of Ponzi finance”. The lessons he had taken from it were miserable.
The West was not going to find its way to the right economic path with a little tweaking at the edges, the CEO said. What is needed is a wholesale overhaul of the economic system to tackle record levels of public and private debt. Was anyone brave enough to do it, he wondered aloud.
I asked him to send me the report. He did.
The BCG study by Daniel Stelter which is doing the rounds of corporate C-suites does not pull its punches. In fact, its punches are really just a softening-up exercise for a barrage of kicks and painful blows aimed at anyone who thinks that kicking the can down the road is a suitable substitute for radical action.
At the heart of the analysis is the issue of debt. A report by the Bank of International Settlements, the study notes, found that the combined debts of the public and private sector in the 18 core members of the OECD rose from 160pc of GDP in 1980 to 321pc in 2010.
That debt was not used to fund growth – perfectly reasonable – but was used for consumption, speculation and, increasingly, to pay interest on the previous debt as liabilities were rolled over.
As soon as asset price rises – fuelled by high levels of leverage – levelled off, the model imploded.

Firearm Confiscation Plan Announced For America

Alex Jones: US senators, state governors and others are testing the waters to see if they can sell a national confiscation buy back program under an Obama executive order. This is a way of making all gun owners terrorist. This is the plan, the facts are indisputable. We are in deep shit.

CHRISTMAS at DFAT...

From : 2 years is way too long for Julian Assange - to be subjected to jail, house arrest and after Asylum was granted, languishing with a chronic lung infection in the Ecuadorian Embassy for over six months. Dead silence now from Swedish Prosecutor Marianne Ny, who says she wants to ask him a few questions, but will not do so in any way that avoids the risk of him being extradited to the US.

Germany ‘exporting’ elderly to foreign retirement homes

By Kate Connolly: Pensioners are being sent to care homes in eastern Europe and Asia in an austerity move dismissed as ‘inhumane deportation’
Growing numbers of elderly and sick Germans are being sent overseas for long-term care in retirement and rehabilitation centres because of rising costs and falling standards in Germany.
The move, which has seen thousands of retired Germans rehoused in homes in eastern Europe and Asia, has been severely criticised by social welfare organisations who have called it “inhumane deportation”.
But with increasing numbers of Germans unable to afford the growing costs of retirement homes, and an ageing and shrinking population, the number expected to be sent abroad in the next few years is only likely to rise. Experts describe it as a “time bomb”.
Germany’s chronic care crisis – the care industry suffers from lack of workers and soaring costs – has for years been mitigated by eastern Europeans migrating to Germany in growing numbers to care for the country’s elderly.
But the transfer of old people to eastern Europe is being seen as a new and desperate departure, indicating that even with imported, cheaper workers, the system is unworkable.

Where The Heck Was The “Festive Spirit”?

By Wolf Richter: Shocked and appalled—that was the reaction to the shopping-season debacle unfolding in the US. It was triggered by MasterCard’s SpendingPulse report that poured ice-cold water on expectations of a 3% sales growth. But now there’s a new term to describe “consumer spending,” “consumer debt,” and ultimately “trade deficits” when they occur as a function of such uplifting concepts as “holiday season” or “Christmas” whose magic is boiled down to just one issue: how much did everyone spend?
Who came up with it? Retailer par excellence, Michel-Edouard Leclerc, CEO of E.Leclerc, France’s largest retailer with a market share of 18%. He faced a challenging environment as unemployment soared above 10% and as the already anemic private sector plunged into a crisis. Yet “Christmas was saved,” he said today, by “the festive spirit.”
The “rush during the last three days” made up for weakness during the prior weeks and brought E.Leclerc’s sales up to expectation. He outlined the phenomenon of the “festive spirit”—that drive to separate yourself from your hard-earned money, and if you don’t have any, from borrowed money—in more scientific detail: “The deeper we go into the crisis,” he said, “the more there are moments like these, when people tell themselves, ‘Sh-t, let yourself go.’”
But in the US, that festive spirit was apparently lacking.

Contradictory reports say Iran may have been hit by hackers, indicate attacks come from Israel and U.S.

By Madison Ruppert: On Christmas day several reports hit the internet indicating that Iran was yet again targeted by what appeared to be the now infamous Stuxnet worm.
UPDATE: See below for information indicating that original reports regarding cyberattacks on Iran could be false.
This is hardly surprising given that there have been a wide range of cyberattacks on Iran since the original Stuxnet attack over two years ago, including malware clearly focused on attacking Iran, some of which is based on Stuxnet.
Some of these viruses include the highly complex Flame virus along with the related MiniFlame, a virus named “Mahdi” after the Islamic Messiah and more like Duqu, Gauss, Wiper and Shamoon.
It is quite interesting how all of this is springing up after the Department of Defense and research groups like the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) have begun to focus on cyberwarfare.
A report published on CNET stated, “The cyberattack targeted a power plant and other sites in southern Iran over the fall, the BBC and the Associated Press reported [Dec. 25].”
However, the Associated Press reported today, Dec. 26, that the attack was actually stopped successfully
