Googlezebub: Google-owned Motorola reveals stomach acid-powered tablet that turns your body into a dog tag or barcode

(Image credit: screenshot from AllThingsD video)By Madison Ruppert: Regina Dugan, former director of the Defense Advanced Research Agency (DARPA) and current head of Google-owned Motorola’s research division, introduced a prototype vitamin authentication tablet which turns your entire body into a walking authentication token.
We got to do a lot of epic shit when I was at DARPA,” Dugan said. Indeed, DARPA has been involved in everything from weaponized hallucinations to tiny spy computers to military human enhancements to automated drone-borne targeting and tracking systems to linking rat brains over the internet and much more.
Forget traditional usernames and passwords, this technology unveiled at D11 uses a tiny stomach acid-powered tablet to produce an 18-bit signal which can be detected by outside devices and used for authentication.
Dugan also showed off wearable electronic tattoos produced by a company called MC10, in partnership with Motorola, which serve a similar function.
The rationale behind these technologies, according to Dugan, is the annoyances caused by traditional authentication.
“Authentication is irritating,” Dugan said. “After 40 years of advances in computation, we’re still authenticating basically the same way we did years ago.” (WD: With the use of our brains. This must be for sheeple who've lost the ability.)

In Aftermath Of Monsatan's 'Rogue' GM Wheat Discovery, South Korea Is Latest To Suspend US Wheat Imports + Satan's Favorite Corp Revealed + Private GMO Resistant Bees Killed by US Govt.

Tyler Durden's picture The global Monsanto genetically modified wheat scandal is getting worse.

As a reminder, recently news broke out that a rogue genetically modified strain of wheat developed by Monsanto, had been found in an Oregon field late last month. But while modified food has long been a US diet staple, this particular breed was the first discovery of an unapproved strain, and what made things worse is the lack of any information how the rogue grain had escape from a field trial a decade ago. As Reuters reports, "even after weeks of investigation, experts are baffled as to how the seed survived for years after Monsanto had ceased all field tests of the product. It was found in a field growing a different type of GM wheat than Monsanto's strain, far from areas used for field tests, according to an Oregon State University wheat researcher who tested the strain."

Firefighters vs police in Spain austerity protest

The protestors had gathered in front of the Catalunya Parliament in Barcelona to mark their feelings about the pressures on public services in the country.

Brave Face Put On For G8 Leaders - County’s Makeover Plan Branded ‘A Big Lie’ As Reality Of Recession Is Hidden

Dan Keenan: Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been spent on a Fermanagh facelift as the county prepares for the G8 summit in just under three weeks’ time, but locals complain the work paid for by the local council and the Stormont Executive is little more than skin deep.
More than 100 properties within range of the sumptuous Lough Erne resort which hosts the world’s wealthiest leaders, have been tidied up, painted or power-hosed.
However, locals say the makeover only serves to hide a deeper malaise which US president Barack Obama, German chancellor Angela Merkel, French president François Hollande and others will not get to see.
Two shops in Belcoo, right on the border with Blacklion, Co Cavan, have been painted over to appear as thriving businesses. The reality, as in other parts of the county, is rather more stark.

Britain's wars fuel terror. Denying it only feeds Islamophobia

Those who send British troops to shed blood in the Muslim world must share the blame for atrocities like Woolwich

Eight years on, nothing has been learned. In the week since a British soldier was horrifically stabbed to death by London jihadists on the streets of Woolwich, it's July 2005 all over again. David Cameron immediately rushed to set up a task force and vowed to ban "hate clerics". Now the home secretary wants to outlaw "nonviolent extremist" organisations, censor broadcasters and websites and revive plans to put the whole country's phone and web records under surveillance.
"Kneejerk" barely does it justice. As for the impact on Muslims, the backlash has if anything been worse than in 2005, when 52 Londoners were killed by suicide bombers. As the police and a BBC reporter described the alleged killers as of "Muslim appearance" (in other words, non-white), Islamophobic attacks spiked across the country. In the first five days 10 mosques were attacked, culminating in a triple petrol bombing in Grimsby.
As politicians and the media congratulated themselves that Britain was "calmly carrying on as usual", it won't have felt like that to the Muslim woman who had her veil ripped off and was knocked unconscious in Bolton.

Worldwide protests planned on eve of Bradley Manning trial

RT: Rallies are planned this weekend in dozens of cities across the globe in support of Private first class Bradley Manning as the former Army intelligence analyst prepares to stand trial for the largest intelligence leak in United States history.
The military court-martial against the 25-year-old soldier begins Monday in Ft. Meade, Maryland and is expected to continue throughout the summer. Manning faces a life in prison if convicted of the most serious of the counts against him — aiding the enemy — but presiding judge Col. Denise Lind previously said she’d credit the alleged leaker with 112 days due to the egregious conditions he endured while held for roughly nine months in a US Marine brig.

Woolwich: the naked power grab by British secret services is out of control

By Richard Cottrell: With the family of the trooper butchered in South London wrapped in mourning and grief, who bursts upon the scene with complete indignity but Sheila Rimmington, the one and only female spook to head MI5.
Like some barmy headmistress she chooses this, of all moments, to lecture the British public on the joys of a Stasi-style East German street spy system while others promote more widespread snooping powers.
She ‘warned’ (have you ever noticed the frequency that special verb is invoked by the spooks when they make public pronouncements) ‘MI5 could not be expected to spot every danger’ and that ‘further attacks were likely’.
We are left with the very clear impression of manipulated terror, as practiced and perfected by the secret services who worked both sides of the Catholic-Protestant blanket during the long and dirty ethnic conflict in Northern Ireland.
The victim is an off-duty soldier, like the victims of the pub bombings in Guildford (1989) and Birmingham (1990). These attacks were allegedly part of the IRA’s ‘mainland campaign’ although the alleged perpetrators were later cleared after spending years in jail.
There is an unmistakably strong similarity between the ‘mainland campaign’ of the Irish republicans and the motive which is alleged now, retaliation for British attacks on the Muslim world.

How Cheap Credit Fuels Income/Wealth Inequality

Cheap credit is a great boon to the wealthy and a path to debt-serfdom for everyone else.
Charles Hugh Smith: The ever-widening chasm between the wealthy and the "rest of us" has generated any number of explanations for this deeply troubling phenomenon. We can start with capitalism, which is based on competition for innovations, processes, markets, labor and capital. The more successful participants will naturally garner more profit and premium, leaving less for those who don't control assets and skills that carry high premiums in the marketplace.

But this fundamental source of inequality doesn't explain why wealth and income inequality was considerably lower in previous eras of economic expansion.
Many observers rightly point to the capture of federal regulatory bodies by corporations and the transition from an industrial economy with plentiful low-skill, high-wage jobs to a post-industrial knowledge-based service economy as causes.

THE MADNESS OF A LOST SOCIETY 3

SGTbull07: Another 'Black Friday' has come and gone. And it has left us with further evidence of the complete madness of the populace of our nation. America has been dealt a fatal blow by corporate greed, Bankster malfeasance and the insidious nature of collectivism -- and it's all been done to us by design.

Sex Trade Recession, $10,000 Gold and Perverted Credit Risk - Max Keiser with Mitch Feierstein

Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert observe that spankings are trading at an all time high in London while on international markets, the enduring love for gold sees record volumes of physical metal trading hands. In the second half, Max talks to Mitch Feierstein, author of Planet Ponzi, about VIX volumes surging as old dummies are replaced with new dummies in the global central bank operated ponzi scheme.

Trouble in socialist paradise

By : Anytime a free market guy rails against central planning and socialism, there is always someone who stands up and says “what about Sweden?”
Riots in Stockholm, SwedenAh, Sweden… a socialist’s paradise… a place where taxes are among the highest in the world, few people are wealthy, and the government is involved in people’s lives from cradle to grave.
And in all of these government surveys on ‘happiness’, places like Sweden, Norway, and Denmark consistently rank among the happiest countries in the world.
Well… the veneer is cracking.
Though the coverage has been limited, there’s been rioting in Sweden over the past week, specifically in the immigrant-dense suburbs around Stockholm where 80% of the population are first or second-generation immigrants.

Reforming the Family Courts…what is behind this disastrous MoJ effort?

graylingptDo we blame the Fishface at the top? Or is this just another élite cover-up?

An intellectual stickleback engages in introspection
The Slog: The constitutional braindeath at the heart of the Conservative Party gets more depressing with every month that passes. Labour under Blair and Brown were no better – and I have no doubt at all that the ‘advisers’ in the Ed Miller Band are just as thick – but it is the Tory Party that’s in power, and as right now they’re the ones vandalising the Rule of Law and Equality before the Law, they are obviously the people to fire at. With these clowns in charge, one simply couldn’t miss.
The man at the top of the ironically named Ministry of Justice these days is Christopher Grayling.

14-year-old put in chokehold by US Brown shirts, charged with felony after giving mercenaries ‘dehumanizing stares’

By Madison Ruppert: A 14-year-old was choked by Miami-Dade police and charged with a felony count of resisting arrest with violence and disorderly conduct, all for giving police “dehumanizing stares,” clenching his fists and appearing threatening.
Unfortunately, it’s not all that rare for teens to be brutalized or even killed by police in the United States. There also seems to be something about police in Florida being especially violent for no apparent reason as they were when they beat a 66-year-old and when they murdered Nick Christie.
The incident occurred on Haulover Beach in Miami, Florida on Memorial Day morning after police said they saw Tremaine McMillian slamming another teenager on the sand.

The NWO: It's Not About Obama... ? Wall Street Funded the Bolshevik Revolution - Professor Antony Sutton

Brandon Smith: In 1917, the Bolshevik Revolution gained general victory against the empire’s sovereign, Czar Nicholas Romanov II, a monarchal ruler widely considered despotic and inhumane in his treatment of the Russian citizenry.

Is This Why Social Unrest In Europe Has Been Subdued (For Now)?

When even the political elite are voicing concerns about the possible social implications of youth unemployment rates in Europe being so egregiously high, you know that there are problems. The question many have is that until now riots have been few and far between (most notably Sweden and Switzerland recently); so why are the main areas of massive unemployment not seeing the widespread chaos? The answer, perhaps unsurprisingly, is in government handouts but as Stratfor notes,
time is running out for the benefit-beholden generation.

When Men Experience Sexism

berlatsky_sexism.jpg: Can men be victims of sexism?
An NPR Morning Edition report this week suggests strongly that the answer is "yes." As Jennifer Ludden reports, after divorce men can face burdensome alimony payments even in situations where their ex-wives are capable of working and earning a substantial income. Even in cases where temporary alimony makes sense—as when a spouse has quit a job to raise the children—it's hard to understand the need for lifetime alimony payments, given women's current levels of workforce participation. As one alimony-paying ex-husband says, "The theory behind this was fine back in the '50s, when everybody was a housewife and stayed home." But today, it looks like an antiquated perpetuation of retrograde gender roles—a perpetuation which, disproportionately, harms men.
This isn't the only case in which men can suffer from gender discrimination. David Benatar, in his 2012 monograph The Second Sexism discusses a whole range of other ways in which men as men are disadvantaged. Men, for example, receive custody of children in only about 10 percent of divorce cases in the United States. Men also, as Benatar writes, are subject to "a long history of social and legal pressure...to fight in war"

Why, Oh Why Did I Have a Child?

0:58 - Given that world is rife with problems that are only getting worse, I would like to know why he decided to have a child. Why put a child in modern society's path? Wouldn't it have been easier to leave it as a truly free spirit on some astral plain rather than bring it to Earth, born into wage and statist bondage?

The Warns of Collapse are Coming from Inside Government Now

By Martin Armstrong: EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger is part of a growing undertone within the European government that is finally getting real. He has warned that Europe is a one giant case destined for restructuring and that some countries in Europe have simply become ungovernable anymore. He has warned that Brussels does not have a clue what’s going on and still behaves as there is no crisis. They are living in a state of denial and the longer this continues the worse it will get. France is not prepared for what is coming and is way too far down the Marxist path with public spending ratio of 57% of GDP. The amount of government workers in France are double that of the EU average. There is just no hope as politicians stand in the way of saving Western Civilization.

wearechange: For the third time, Luke Rudkowski confronts Henry Kissinger about his crimes against humanity and the Bilderberg group. Luke also asked him about the comment he is on record saying "The illegal we do immediately, the unconstitutional takes a little longer." Larry King joins RT with brand new politics show!

RT: Award-winning interviewer Larry King will host a mold-breaking political talk show on RT from next month, speaking to both leading establishment figures, and those who are not afraid to go against the grain.
“I have always been passionate about government and issues that impact the public, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to talk politics with some of the most influential people in Washington and around the country,” says King.
King’s career has spanned 56 years and more than 50,000 interviews, but he says the show will break new ground. The veteran broadcaster will not shy away from causing controversy, or using his authority to give a chance to hear voices other media ignore.

Cyprus Bankster Deposits Plunge By Most Ever During Fascist Capital Controls Month

Tyler Durden's picture Following the improvised and very confused bail-in of the Cypriot bankster system in mid/late March, one of the key requirements was to contain the liquidity within territorial Cyprus, and prevent the outflows of critical bank funding liabilities - i.e., deposits - abroad thus causing a waterfall cascade of ever increasing capital needs and bigger and better bailouts. Thus capital controls, which two months after the bailout, are still in place. Judging by just released Cyprus Central Bank data they failed. Because even though the deposit outflow in March, when the fiasco happened, was a moderate €3.8 billion, which the European politicians promptly pointed to as confirmation of a job well done, it was the April outflow that was the jawdropping number.
In a month in which deposit flight should have been largely contained, Cyprus banks saw a record outflow of 6.4 billion, or 10% of its entire deposit base, in one month!
But the sad punchline is that while deposit flight by domestic residents was an unfortunate if explainable €3 billion, it was the €3.1 billion in deposit reduction by "Non-Euro Residents" - read Russians, who circumvented capital controls, and pulled a whopping 16% of their entire deposits held in the tiny and now completely insolvent island nation.

Government and Collapsed Bridges - Ludwig von Mises Institute

bridgeJames E. Miller: The recent collapse of a small commuter bridge in Washington has brought back memories of Minnesota. Back in August of 2007, the I-35W Mississippi bridge connecting the Downtown East and Marcy-Holmes neighborhoods plummeted to the river below like a Chinese-made sofa. Thirteen individuals lost their lives while 145 escaped with injury. The suddenness of the debacle was met with the blunt response system of the state. That is, politicians in Minnesota and elsewhere went before the public to decry the deteriorating condition of government infrastructure across the country. A flurry of taxpayer money dedicated to overhauling the nation’s bridges followed. Five years after millions in tax dollars were fleeced, allocated, and distributed to this new urgency, less than two dozen of the state’s 172 “structurally deficient” bridges have been made whole.
The total failure to provide safe infrastructure, especially in the aftermath of a tragedy, would be comical if it were not so representative of the ineptness of state action. If there is one thing government officials are good at, it’s going forth with failed plans while convincing themselves, and voters, that this time will be different.

Shadow Government: John Hinckley Jr. & the Trilateral Commission - Trading Your Liberty For Our Security

By Dean Henderson: In 1979, while people celebrated the Shah’s demise in Tehran, Zbigniew Brzezinski was on his way to Kuwait City for a meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Jaber al-Sabah, Saudi officials and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.  It was agreed that Hussein’s Republican Guard would invade oil-rich Khuzistan and amputate it from the rest of Iran.  Oil prices had just begun to stabilize when Iraq launched its first salvo, sending spot futures through the roof.
Brzezinski co-founded the Trilateral Commission (TC) in 1973 with David Rockefeller.  The concept was hatched at the Rockefeller Pocantico Hills, NY estate in July 1972.  Rockefeller served as the group’s first chairman. One of its largest financial supporters is the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.  All eight North American representatives present at the founding meeting were also members of the secretive Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). [1]  The stated purpose of TC was to form a triad of global influence consisting of North America, Western Europe and Japan.

Xbox One by default features camera that works in the dark and microphone you can’t turn off

By Madison Ruppert: By default, the upcoming Xbox One from Microsoft will feature an always-on microphone and camera that works in the dark, both of which are constantly connected to the internet and can’t be turned off.
The creepiness is only compounded when one realizes that Microsoft helps develop massive surveillance systems like the Domain Awareness System used in New York City. Microsoft has also been questioned about the privacy and security of Skype and criticized for censoring Windows Live Messenger chats.
Putting a product like this by Microsoft – a company that backed privacy-crushing legislation in the past – is only asking for trouble.
The new Kinect 2.0 will be bundled with every Xbox One and according to Extreme Tech, the Xbox One will not work if the Kinect isn’t plugged in.
That might sound quite nonsensical, but it was confirmed by Xbox’s UK marketing director.
“Xbox’s UK marketing director Harvey Eagle has said that the console will not function without Kinect connected,” Keza MacDonald wrote for IGN.
“Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all cases, yes,” Harvey Eagle told IGN after a Microsoft-hosted event in London on May 21, 2013.
This was also confirmed by Corporate VP of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer when he told Joystiq, “Kinect has to be connected to Xbox One.”
It gets even creepier...

Awash in Self-Delusional Cornucopianism

America the Vulnerable
History warns we're sleepwalking towards collapse
By James Howard Ku: For most people, the collapse of civilizations is a subject much more appetizingly viewed in the rearview mirror than straight ahead down whatever path or roadway we are on.
Jared Diamond wrote about the collapse of earlier civilizations to great acclaim and brisk sales, in a nimbus of unimpeachable respectability. The stories he told about bygone cultures gone to seed were, above all, dramatic. No reviewers or other intellectual auditors dissed him for suggesting that empires inevitably run aground on the shoals of resource depletion, population overshoot, changes in the weather, and the diminishing returns of complexity.
Yet these are exactly the same problems that industrial-technocratic societies face today, and those of us who venture to discuss them are consigned to a tin-foil-hat brigade, along with the UFO abductees and Bigfoot trackers. This is unfortunate, but completely predictable, since the sunk costs in all the stuff of daily life (freeways, malls, tract houses) are so grotesquely huge that letting go of them is strictly unthinkable. We’re stuck with a very elaborate setup that has no future, but we refuse to consider the consequences. So messengers are generally unwelcome.

Syria Goes Hot: Russia To Deliver Weapons, Deploys Air Defense; Israel Warns Russia; Obama Demands No Fly Zone

Tyler Durden's picture Those who were intently following the USDJPY pair formerly known as the stock market today missed the biggest news of the day: the proxy war in Syria just went hot, following a confluence of news, first that Russia insisted "it would deliver anti-aircraft missiles to Syria, as fears of spillover from the conflict grew" and in logical retaliation to yesterday's decision by Europe to lift an arms embargo to the Al Qaeda-supported, Qatari mercenaries operating in Syria, also known as "rebels.
This lead apartheid Israel's defense minister Moshe Yaalon to immediately signal that "its military is prepared to strike shipments of advanced Russian weapons to Syria."
Meanwhile back in the US "the baby bombing White House has asked the Pentagon to draw up plans for a no-fly zone inside Syria that would be enforced by the U.S. and other countries such as France and Great Britain, two administration officials told The Daily Beast."
And just to make it very clear that Russia is not bluffing, it announced overnight that its four regiments of S-300 air defense systems have been deployed at the Ashuluk firing range in southern Russia as part of another snap combat readiness check of the Russian armed forces "The missions will be carried out in conditions of heavy electronic warfare to test the capabilities of the air defense units to the highest limit."

Lampizator GM70 Special Edition amplifier and SILK + Lukasz Fikus visit to the UK

Angelo Agathangelou: In the wake of the Gibson Guitar FBI raids and debacle, in this SGW exclusive, I am sad to report yet another affront to world MOJO!

Our world first "Make Mozart Not Nukes!" review of the extraordinary GM70 SE amps has remained in the top favourites and you may be wondering where the update got to.. well, so goes our story... The US/UK/Israel war of terror did it. Figures!
Yesterday I caught up with Lukasz Fikus (aka Mr Lampizator) and Greg from G-Point Audio his man in the UK. Turns out if the couriers are not tossing our hero's high end hand made gear about, they are rolling it down the street. My own delivery guy said he couldn't throw the amps because they were too heavy! Guess they were rolled. 60% of a recent US shipment arrived at audiophiles addresses destroyed by the US war of terror! Reports were ranging and obvious. An inspection of equipment quickly revealed scenarios. US customs clearly unceremoniously opening (what I know to be) exceptionally well packed Lampizator products, obvious drops smashes during inspection then clearly unceremoniously shoved and stamped under foot so as to fit back in their boxes resplendent with boot prints. The same fascist boot stamping on the face of humanity for the rest of eternity? I'm smiling through my teeth.

THE PAEDOFILE: Sheffield Judge in sex-abuse denial as Rochdale MP’s hypocrisy on paedophiles revealed.

goldsacropWhy, if you’re looking for help against a pervert, the last thing you should do is approach the judiciary or a legislator

The Slog: A Judge retires to consider his verdict. Judge Alan Goldsack QC (left) of Sheffield Crown Court spoke out last week, as he retired after 43 years in the legal profession. I have added suitably satirical bits in red to his statements in order to demonstrate, with as little didacticism as possible under the circumstances, why he is part of the problem in Britain of dealing with systemic child abuse. Sadly, the bits in black are what he actually did say.
“A frightening thing is the number of people I see who are the grandchildren of the people I have prosecuted and defended 40 years ago – because crime runs in families in the same way that being a doctor, teacher or lawyer does – and despite all of them having been rogered up hill and down dale for three generations by some of my closest colleagues, they continue to offend.

Apartheid Israel lobby: Money interests behind the Wailing Wall

Why Blair, Cameron and Hunt are not necessarily your friends - POWER-POLITICIANS AT WORK

blairyBe it Palestine, Tax or Whistle-blowing, the citizens are on their own
The final nail in Palestine’s coffin has been hammered in by US Secretary of State John Kerry: he has brought in Tony Blair to (and I quote) “devise economic plans to revitalise the Palestinian economy”. No doubt the next new helper in Father Kerry’s Grotto will be John Birt, charged with revitalising Palestinian television and Parliamentary procedures. Or how about Gordon Brown to advise on gold sales, Tessa Jowells on how to introduce alcohol into the mix, and Jeremy Hunt as a consultant proctologist advising on how to take it up the arse from Israel? In for a penny, in for a Pound – that’s what I say.
You see, when push comes to shove, it’s all about knowing who your friends are. Tony Blurrgh marched into Iraq to liberate its people from internecine violence, the success of which can be judged by the death in just one day earlier this week of 54 bomb-victims in Baghdad. Then Moral Tone took a whopping fee for moving the peace process forward following a war in which he’d been an illegal combatant. Now – following his huge success with British economic paper output – Teflon’s got the job of turning the art of firing rifles at clouds into a viable export business. I suppose if you fire scuds into the neighbouring country, that’s a form of exporting: they just need Tony to help them build on that idea.

Mellow Out with This ‘Middle-Eastern Version’ of ‘Karma Police’

By Doug Barry: Vocalist Rotem Shefy and cellist/arranger Leat Sabbah describe this serene cover as our very own Middle-Eastern version of Radiohead’s 1997 Karma Police,” the song you probably mentioned to friends as being “chill” when you were young and extremely self-conscious about seeming like you were a music connoisseur.

Kafka, meet Orwell: peek behind the scenes of the modern police surveillance state

boing boing: Journeyman Pictures' short documentary "Naked Citizens" is an absolutely terrifying and amazing must-see glimpse of the modern security state, and the ways in which it automatically ascribes guilt to people based on algorithmic inferences, and, having done so, conducts such far-reaching surveillance into its victims' lives that the lack of anything incriminating is treated of proof of being a criminal mastermind:

Why Stockholm is burning and why the world should care

By Richard Cottrell: For the best part of a week a bustling, largely immigrant dominated suburb in the Swedish capital Stockholm has been gripped by violence and anger formerly unknown to an international audience which thinks of the country as a sleepy Nordic backwater where nothing much happens.
That image is wrong: Sweden has a contemporary history of violence against its most senior leaders, the Prime Minister Oluf Palme – a near saint-like JFK figure – and more recently the foreign minister Anna Lindh, both struck down by assassins.
Under the neo-con government now in power, the Swedes have dropped their purely token neutrality and waded gung ho into the neurotic war on terror.  This in turn puts native-born Swedes in the front line given the swelling immigrant population drawn by the country’s alluring economic strength.
There has been simmering tension for years between the predominantly white Protestant Swedes and the country’s rising immigrant population, mostly as a consequence of wars, and especially the instability promoted by Western forays like Iraq, collapsing failed states and climate change. Mostly but not entirely Muslim immigrants account for 1.4 million permanent residents in a country of 8.5 million.

Worried About Global Warming, Then End The Fed... And Other Thought Experiments

Salon has an article on denial of science by mainstream society. The article asks why people deny the unpleasant truths that modern science has to offer--apparently preferring to chance of the impending hell of global warming and non-fluoridated drinking water.
The thing the authors don't understand is that the general public is not pushing back against the science per se. They like the science. Science gives them big, flat-screen TVs, Blu-Ray players, cars, airplanes, special effects, laptops with more computing power than ENIAC, the internet, and so forth. They love science.

They don't like authoritarians telling them what to do. So bugger off.

40 Statistics About The Fall Of The U.S. Economy That Are Almost Too Crazy To Believe

40 Statistics About The Fall Of The U.S. Economy That Are Almost Too Crazy To BelieveBy Michael Snyder: If you know someone that actually believes that the U.S. economy is in good shape, just show them the statistics in this article.  When you step back and look at the long-term trends, it is undeniable what is happening to us.  We are in the midst of a horrifying economic decline that is the result of decades of very bad decisions.  30 years ago, the U.S. national debt was about one trillion dollars.  Today, it is almost 17 trillion dollars.  40 years ago, the total amount of debt in the United States was about 2 trillion dollars.  Today, it is more than 56 trillion dollars.  At the same time that we have been running up all of this debt, our economic infrastructure and our ability to produce wealth has been absolutely gutted.  Since 2001, the United States has lost more than 56,000 manufacturing facilities and millions of good jobs have been shipped overseas.  Our share of global GDP declined from 31.8 percent in 2001 to 21.6 percent in 2011.  The percentage of Americans that are self-employed is at a record low, and the percentage of Americans that are dependent on the government is at a record high.  The U.S. economy is a complete and total mess, and it is time that we faced the truth.
The following are 40 statistics about the fall of the U.S. economy that are almost too crazy to believe...

#1 Back in 1980, the U.S. national debt was less than one trillion dollars.  Today, it is rapidly approaching 17 trillion dollars...

#2 During Obama's first term, the federal government accumulated more debt than it did under the first 42 U.S presidents combined.
#3 The U.S. national debt is now more than 23 times larger than it was when Jimmy Carter became president.

Prostitutes in UK are experiencing deflation while the dominatrix experiences inflation

Stacy Herbert: Inflation, deflation or both?
Is demand picking up? We were told that trillions of dollars worth of Quantitative Easing from banks all over the world would get the economy speeding up. But so far we are not seeing it. Economies are at best hovering around ‘flat lining;’ not growth or contracting. And when you consider what the GDP numbers in UK, USA, Japan, and the Euro zone would be if you took the money pumping away you arrive at negative growth. in other words, the trillions of free cash loaned into the fractional reserve financial hologram (the post-industrial, financialized hologram we all live in) has been a waste of time and money. This is particularly annoying when you consider that had this money simply been used to cancel consumer debts instead of propping up zombie banks; the global economy would be enjoying robust growth right now. Such is the problem when bankers get their lobbyists elected to public office; a problem compounded by bankers being asked to write the laws supposedly governing them.
What can be done?
