All the Gold in the Universe Could Come From the Collisions of Neutron Stars

When two stars recently collided, astronomers landed on a new theory about where gold and other heavy elements originate
By Joseph Stromberg: On June 3, 3.9 billion light-years away, two incredibly dense neutron stars— bodies that are each about 1.5 times the mass of the sun but just the size of mere cities—collided. Scientists studying the event say it solves an enduring mystery about the formation of elements in our universe.
“It's a very fast, catastrophic, extremely energetic type of explosion,” says Edo Berger, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. The massive collision released a powerful jet of gamma-rays across the universe. The flash, which lasted for only two-tenths of a second, was picked up by NASA’s Swift satellite and sent astronomers scrambling to collect data.
Over the next few days, telescopes in Chile and the Hubble Space Telescope turned their attention to that region of space. Today, Berger and colleagues announced at a press conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that their analysis reveals that neutron star collisions are responsible for the formation of virtually all the heavy elements in the universe—a list that includes gold, mercury, lead, platinum and more.

"Gone baby gone" By Paul Manning + Fatherless Day + Interview with Nadine from fathers 4 justice

"Gone baby gone" Composed by Paul Manning.

I know what it is to lose and miss a child, to live with that pain every second of the day, to be haunted by dusty toys that lay idle and unused.

PAEDOFILE: Canadian progressive sex-education boss charged with involvement in global paedophile porn

Further evidence of the organised and international nature of child pornography has emerged sensationally in Toronto over the last week. Benjamin Levin (left) A former deputy minister of education has been charged with exploiting children.  The former education minister, Kathleen Wynne, is now the provincial premier…..and a close friend of the accused. Levin himself is in turn from a powerful family, and was apprehended as part of an international pornography sting operation.
The Slog: After he was charged with two more child pornography offences on Wednesday 10th July, University of Toronto professor Benjamin Levin was granted bail set at $100,000. Levin will face seven charges of child exploitation, including possessing and accessing child pornography following a Monday raid on his home. (Bad luck for him that Michael Gove wasn’t there to get him off.)
Toronto Premier Kathleen Wynne, on whose ‘transition’ team Levin served, commented on his arrest for the first time yesterday.
“I was shocked to hear about these charges through the news,” her statement said. “Insidious crimes like these are absolutely terrifying. The safety and well-being of our children has always been my absolute priority, and at no time did I have any suspicion of criminal behavior. I am confident that the police and judicial system will address these serious allegations.”
Note the quite unfeasibly large amount of arse-covering that went into that statement. Wynne – an aggressively feminist lesbian (aka feminazi)

A Nightmare Scenario

By Michael Snyder: Most people have no idea that the U.S. financial system is on the brink of utter disaster.  If interest rates continue to rise rapidly, the U.S. economy is going to be facing an economic crisis far greater than the one that erupted back in 2008.  At this point, the economic paradigm that the Federal Reserve has constructed only works if interest rates remain super low.  If they rise, everything falls apart.  Much higher interest rates would mean crippling interest payments on the national debt, much higher borrowing costs for state and local governments, trillions of dollars of losses for bond investors, another devastating real estate crash and the possibility of a multi-trillion dollar derivatives meltdown.  Everything depends on interest rates staying low.  Unfortunately for the Fed, it only has a certain amount of control over long-term interest rates, and that control appears to be slipping.  The yield on 10 year U.S. Treasuries has soared in recent weeks.  So have mortgage rates.  Fortunately, rates have leveled off for the moment, but if they resume their upward march we could be dealing with a nightmare scenario very, very quickly.
In particular, the yield on 10 year U.S. Treasuries is a very important number to watch.

Group of 19 diverse consumer and privacy groups sue NSA over massive surveillance program

By Madison Ruppert: An incredibly diverse coalition of 19 consumer and privacy groups filed a lawsuit against the National Security Agency (NSA) today, claiming that the massive data collection programs run by the agency violate the Constitution.
The group is spearheaded by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a group that has fought the NSA in the past.
The EFF also led another large coalition demanding an end to the NSA’s surveillance programs in the wake of the exposure of the PRISM program.
The lawsuit targets the NSA, FBI and Department of Justice and is a companion to the 2008 EFF case against the NSA, President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and others on behalf of AT&T customers, according to EFF legal director Cindy Cohn.
This latest lawsuit focuses more on the most recently revealed details about the NSA’s data collection programs, all of which were outlined in documents leaked by Edward Snowden to The Washington Post and the Guardian.
Cohn told reporters that the groups found the first document revealing that Verizon was ordered to hand over all U.S. phone records for a three-month period by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) to be especially troubling.

REFORM: Why voting is the daftest thing we do, and the elite’s most powerful weapon against us.

Voting in the UK will never make politicians accountable
rottenboroThe Slog: Where The Slog treads one week, the MSM follows the next. The last Smoke Signals here contained a piece about Merkel’s Big Green Votecatcher. This was  Reuters yesterday:
‘German operators of coal and gas power plants are sounding the alarm: the operation of many power plants is no longer profitable as a result of the green energy transition. Dozens of plants could be closed down, the industry warns. Of approximately 90,000 megawatts of conventional power capacity in Germany, up to 20 percent could be shut down, the newspaper quoted the CEO of a utility. In the worst case scenario, Germany would face blackouts. So far, the Federal Network Agency has received 15 applications to close down power plants, the Süddeutsche Zeitung reports. E.ON, the largest energy company in Germany, has decided to close down eleven power plants in Europe by 2015.  Its competitor RWE announced similar shut down plans.’
This is the problem with political opportunists: they always fuck up the real opportunities. But it does raise a much broader issue: what is to be done with politicians who are obsessed with but three things: votes, power and money?

Men - the new second class citizens

660-Father-and-son.jpgBy : In November of last year, I wrote an article for Fox News called The War on Men (which I subsequently expanded to an eBook). To keep it pithy, in the piece I focused on one effect of this war: the lack of marriageable men. But there’s so much more to it. The truth is, men have become second-class citizens.
The most obvious proof is male bashing in the media. It is rampant and irrefutable. From sit-coms and commercials that portray dad as an idiot to biased news reports about the state of American men, males are pounced on left and right. And that’s just the beginning.
The war on men actually begins in grade school, where boys are at a distinct disadvantage. Not only are curriculums centered on girls’, rather than boys,’ interests, the emphasis in these grades is on sitting still at a desk.
Plus, many schools have eliminated recess. Such an environment is unhealthy for boys, for they are active by nature and need to run around. And when they can’t sit still teachers and administrators often wrongly attribute their restlessness to ADD or ADHD. The message is clear: boys are just unruly girls.
Things are no better in college. There, young men face the perils of Title IX, the 1972 law designed to ban sex discrimination in all educational programs.
Under Title IX, the ratio of female athletes is supposed to match the ratio of female students. So if not enough women sign up for, say, wrestling and ice hockey, well then: no more wrestling and ice hockey.

Apartheid Israeli regime to ethnically cleanse 30,000 Palestinian from Negev desert

UK Banned Press TV: Protesters have held large demonstrations to show their anger at a newly-approved 'law' by Israeli regime. 30,000 so-called Palestinian Bedouins will be forced out of their land in the Negev desert by Israeli shock troops.

Should Lesbians Be Exempt From Statutory Rape Laws?

6oodfella: "A Chinese man just broke into my house, but I don't want to phone the police, because I don't want people to think I hate Asians." - That's pretty much the logic in this case.

"FUCK YOU, PATRIARCHY"

GodDammitFrankie: This is a video rant about the matriarchy. Has it gone too far? Is the patriarchy expected to stand down entirely due to its past crimes against feminism? Is that right?
