By Lucian Vâlsan: Most people who have visited the Balkan area will contend that at least the Serbo-Croatian-speaking men are usually people who take no bullshit, and once you meet the Serbian women (be they traditional or more modern) you’ll probably get the impression that feminist policies have little to no chance of being supported by the population.
But, as it is the case of Hungary or Spain, feminism doesn’t really need the support of the population to be imposed upon the people – especially given that men’s suffering is by default ignored pretty much all over the planet. This is particularly true in the Balkans where the “concern” for women’s wellbeing goes through the roof – not only in Serbia but also in Bosnia, Montenegro, the Republic of Macedonia, Croatia – in an area where bombs fell allover the place and tens of thousands of men died and untold thousands remained permanently disabled just a little over 15 short years ago.
And, just like 15 years ago when thousands upon thousands of men were killed because they were men and the entire world looked the other way[1], the same is true in today’s Serbia when it comes to domestic violence against men.
The wall of silence
The overwhelming attitude towards this topic in the Serbian culture seems to be complete and utter silence above anything else. It took years of gathering mountains of cases to get the State to even recognize that male victims of female abuse exist in the first place.

After talking to my housemates about it though, I realized that misogynistic “men’s rights” discourses start with a whimper and not a bang. A few years ago we would’ve not heard of such groups on university campuses, now we have proposals for entire courses on men’s rights at some universities. We have pro-life groups funded by our student unions and proposals for “men’s clubs” as well. When we let MRA posters onto our campuses (even those with poorly designed webpages), we are legitimating their claims that there is a ‘debate’ to be had about feminism and gender equality.

Newly released numbers from Germany, collected and analysed over several years, show what disappointed investors have long surmised: around half of wind parks are doing so poorly, investors will be lucky to get their initial investment back after the 20 years.

By John Ward: Investments in renewable energy that were supposed to deliver annual returns of up to 20% have been averaging around 2.25%. German renewable energy firm Prokon is in fact insolvent, and fears are mounting that Merkel’s green energy promise will never be able to meet expectations. In courts around the country, complaints are mounting from wind park investors who haven’t received a dividend disbursement in years, or whose parks went belly up.

While the results are predictable (poor generation levels and high maintenance costs have been a fact of wind-power for decades) they are a triumph for those observers who said Merkel must be mad to promise ditching nuclear in favour of Green. And they leave Britain’s massive investment in wind turbines looking very sick indeed.

You Can Buy A House For One Dollar Or Less In Economically Depressed Cities All Over America

By Michael Snyder: Would you like to buy a house for one dollar?  If someone came up to you on the street and asked you that question, you would probably respond by saying that it sounds too good to be true.  But this is actually happening in economically-depressed cities all over America.  Of course there are a number of reasons why you might want to think twice before buying any of these homes, and I will get into those reasons in just a little bit.  First, however, it is worth noting that many of the cities where these "free houses" are available were once some of the most prosperous cities in the entire country.  In fact, the city of Detroit once had the highest per capita income in the entire nation.  But as millions of good jobs have been shipped overseas, these once prosperous communities have degenerated into rotting, decaying hellholes.  Now homes that once housed thriving middle class families cannot even be given away.  This is happening all over America, and what we are witnessing right now is only just the beginning.
The photo that I have posted was sent to me by a reader just the other day.  It is a photo of a house in Yakima, Washington that is apparently being given away for free.  At one time it was probably quite a lovely home, but now nobody seems to want it...
