The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?”
With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Women Clergy Will Be The Death Of The Church Of England
By Kathy Gyngell: The Church of England tests my loyalty sorely. My local church clergy ‘team’ is almost entirely feminised. In my neck of the woods, there is literally no escaping them, or their dumbed down approach to their ‘calling’. To a woman they appear to be labouring under the impression they are running a Sunday school. That is how we are treated.
With their predictable pudding basin haircuts these female clergy are, in my experience, particularly graceless. "Sit down", not please be seated, is how we are addressed at the start of the service. Forget any idea of starting with a priestly procession behind a cross or a choir.Regard for any aspect of the liturgy and the conduct of the services is scant and bears virtually no relationship at all to the Book of Common Prayer. Sentences from the scriptures, collects, general confessions, or absolutions are rarity between the Christingles and all the other modern service forms. I sometimes wonder if they know the order of service at all. And when we are treated to this rarity, few of these lady priests seem capable of projecting their voices, let alone able to sing. Sacred music has all but disappeared.
No wonder the pews across England sit empty. We are no longer made to feel as though we are “Dearly beloved brethren…”.
Norwegian Feminists Say ‘No!’ To Female Conscription
By Alan J4MB: From this article, on the ‘International Alliance of Women’ website:
Misconceived equality
The Norwegian Association for Women’s Rights (NKF) considers female conscription as a misunderstanding of the concept of gender equality and the intentions of the Law on Equality. Gender equality implies first and foremost that women and men should have the same human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Women should be valued and allocated power and resources on equal terms with men [note: allocated – women shouldn’t be expected to earn those things in the way men have to, through the application of hard work, expertise, experience…]. But women and men do not have to be alike or do the same things to be equal.
To ensure gender equality it is important in many cases that women and men are treated equally. But they should not necessarily be treated equally in all situations. [Plain English: We’ll demand equality with respect to the things we want, such as ‘more women on boards’, we’ll demand continuing inequality in the things we don’t want, e.g. conscription.]

Americans Hate Brown People So Much They Want To Bomb Disney’s Aladdin
By SM Gibson (ANTIMEDIA): If you thought society was bottoming out the last time you heard Donald Trump was rising in the polls, you thought wrong. There is no floor to this well.
According to a new poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, 30% of Republicans are in favor of bombing the city of Agrabah. If you aren’t familiar with this region of the world, do not fret. The reason you do not recollect ever hearing about it in geography class is because it doesn’t exist. It is a fictitious town from the Disney animated film, Aladdin. It’s not real.
By my own admission, I would not have been able to tell you whether Agrabah was from Aladdin or Police Academy 4 if you asked me about the make-believe city prior to this poll. But since I’m not a lunatic (at least most days), I would never have raised my hand if you asked whether I thought people in that country should die.
But don’t get too boastful, Democrats. According to the same research, 19% of your kind are in favor of murdering cartoon families, too.
Thirteen percent of Republicans and 36% of Democrats said they outright opposed bombing the city.

Female UK MPs On Maternity Leave Or Looking After Children ‘Should Be Allowed Vote On Commons Debates From Home’
By Ray [J4MB]: ‘Is it April Fools Day, already?’ It’s just the latest in a long line of pieces about how women demand
institutions adapt to their needs and wants – rather than vice versa
(unlike men) – which inevitably leads to ever more inefficient and
ineffective institutions, financed by long-suffering taxpayers, mostly
men. Because of women’s in-group preference, the proportion of women in
senior positions, and in positions of influence, can only rise,
regardless of the damage they wreak on institutions (state education,
the NHS, public sector bodies in general…). It’s a train with no reverse
gear.
If MPs are on maternity leave – or paternity leave, for that matter – how can they be carrying out the jobs for which they’ve been elected, and for which they’re being paid by taxpayers? They can’t. So why should they be allowed to vote from home?
They also want to vote from home if they’re ‘looking after children’. How can they be be looking after children whilst working as MPs? Is this the fabled ‘multi-tasking’ of which women are deemed uniquely capable?

Metropolitan Police Officer Arrested After Fatal London Shooting
By Michaela Whitton (ANTIMEDIA): A Metropolitan police officer has been arrested over the fatal shooting of a man in London last Friday. Jermaine Baker was shot dead by a firearms officer during an alleged plot to free two prisoners who were being taken to a London court.
Baker was sitting in a car near Wood Green crown court when he was hit in the neck by a single gunshot fired through the windscreen. Media allegations that the 28-year-old father of two had gang links have distressed his family. Witnesses who are afraid to step forward due to fear of intimidation, have claimed that Baker was asleep when he was shot.
Announcement of the police officer’s arrest was made at a community meeting on Thursday evening where a number of significant developments were disclosed. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) confirmed that Baker was in a black Audi when he was shot, claiming that a non-police issue firearm was in the car.
Refusing to say what offense the police officer had been arrested on suspicion of, IPCC commissioner Cindy Butts said:
“Further forensic examinations will take place on the non-police issue firearm and the firearm that was discharged by the police officer.
