Washington Continues To Destroy Latin American Reformers
By Paul Craig Roberts: Currently, Washington is conducting operations against Latin American presidents who tried to represent their own peoples instead of American business interests and Washington’s foreign policy. Washington is trying to unseat and indict President Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, President Evo Morales in Bolivia, President Rafael Correa in Ecuador, and President Dilma Rousseff in Brazil. Washington has succeeded in getting the president of Argentina, Chistina Kirchner, out of office, and is now seeking to have her indicted. To round off its attack on Brazil’s reformist political party, Washington is orchestrating crimes with which to tar and indict Rousseff’s predecesor, Lula da Silva.
Everyone on Washington’s Latin American list of people to be destroyed is a far better person than anyone in Washington. Washington’s Latin American targets have far more integrity, are tainted with far less corruption, and are far more committed to those who voted for them than anyone in Washington.
The danger that these reformers face is due to their innocence. They naively believe in good will between classes. They think that the rich elites, who are well connected to Washington, and that Washington itself, will accept democratic outcomes.

By Don Quijones: Thursday, April 7, 2016, could go down in history as a great day for Spanish mortgage holders and a very grim one for many Spanish banks, thanks to a new ruling that the so-called mortgage floor-clauses that were unleashed across the whole financial sector in 2009 are abusive (but not illegal) and lack transparency.These floor clauses set a minimum interest rate — typically of between 3% and 4.5% — for variable-rate mortgages, even if the Euribor drops far below that figure. In other words, the mortgages are only really variable in one direction: upwards!

Gilad Atzmon interviews Gill Kaffash: The Jewish press reports that Gill Kaffash, a dedicated pro Palestinian activist & former secretary of the Camden branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), is the latest victim of the ongoing Labour purge. Gill was rejected by the Holborn and St Pancras Labour branch. She appealed but the party rejected her appeal last week. According to the Jewish press, Gill was accused of “promoting Holocaust revisionism.”
I joined in 1959; it seemed to me that the Labour Party was best placed to implement social changes to bring more justice into society, support the rights of workers etc. the political scene was somewhat different in the 1960s. I was Secretary of St Pancras & Holborn Labour Party 1963 to 1966 (I think). I was on the first Camden Council 1964-1968. During that period 3 of us were instrumental in getting the council to set up a body to fight racism & discrimination.
