The Prospect Of Nuclear War Getting Too Close For Comfort
“I fear that the war in Ukraine will spiral out of control and become a major war between NATO and Russia. If things go wrong, they can go horribly wrong.” -Jens Stoltenberg
By Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: Biden Regime Secretary of State Blinken has blocked negotiations between Russia and Ukraine by declaring it is US policy to drive Russia out of the reincorporated territories, including Crimea.
Biden’s announcement that the US will use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear threats, and the knowledge that US nuclear weapons are deployed close to Russia are forcing Putin to abandon his no first use of nuclear weapons pledge.
In other words, unlike the 20th century Cold War, today there is a hair-trigger on nuclear war. People who say nuclear war is impossible because there are no winners are out to lunch. Wars are the product of humans, and humans are emotional and stupid. They make mistakes hand over fist. Error is the human way.
During the Cold War, US presidents assured the Kremlin that the US had no intention of initiating a war. Today this assurance does not exist.
Zakharova: Russia Has Received Irrefutable Evidence That The West Started The War In Ukraine!
RN: The Minsk agreements were simply a falsification of the West! The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a regular briefing, announced that Russia had received irrefutable evidence that the West started the war in Ukraine! This evidence was reported by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel in her recent interview with the Zeit newspaper on December 7, 2022. Merkel admitted that the West and Ukraine were not going to implement the Minsk agreements of 2014 in order to give Ukraine time to pump Western weapons into the Kyiv regime.
Why The Left Must Destroy Free Speech... Or Be Destroyed
Totalitarians who go toe-to-toe with truth always lose, eventually...
Authored by Thomas DiLorenzo: In Hayek’s famous 1944 book, The Road to Serfdom, he warned that the intellectual and political classes of the democracies of that time were embracing some of the same ideas that inspired Hitler’s Germany, Mussolini’s Italy, and Stalin’s Russia: comprehensive government planning, hyper regulation of industry, nationalization, welfare statism, and collectivism in general. He did not predict that these societies would end up “in serfdom,” however, as some have mistakenly claimed. Quite the contrary. In his first chapter he clearly stated that he hoped the ideas in the book would help these countries to avoid that disastrous fate. He hoped the ideas of the book would be a roadblock on the road to serfdom.
The eleventh chapter of The Road to Serfdom is entitled “The End of Truth,” about the historical imperative in all totalitarian states throughout history to destroy freedom of speech so that the only true belief is “the social plan” imposed by the state, whatever that may be. This is achieved by relentless institutionalized lying and propaganda, coupled with harsh censorship of all contrary ideas or even questions about the propriety of forcefully imposing one single “social plan.”
Luongo: EU's Oil Price Cap Is "Simply Moronic", Chindia Already Filling Gaps
Janet Yellen may be stupid, but she’s not that stupid. She knows what this price cap she’s championed will do...
By believing they can pressure suppliers into not hauling Russian oil lest they run afoul of the sanctions that support the price cap, they believe they can take only Russian oil off the market for the long run.
Because of the way oil is actually traded in the real world, versus the way it trades in Janet Yellen’s head, this policy is actually much harder to implement than it actually looks. You don’t buy oil at the crude oil counter at Target or Wal-Mart.
There isn’t a price tag you can look at and say yes or no too. As Tsvetana Paraskova at Oilprice points out, crude contracts are written based on a discount or premium to a benchmark price at a particular moment in time.
Oops!: DNA From 2 Million Years Ago Reveals Arctic Utopia That Was 50-65 Degrees Warmer
"The data suggests that more species can evolve and
adapt to wildly varying temperatures than previously thought,"
By Tyler Durden: Two-million-year old DNA from northern Greenland has pushed back the genetic record by 1 million years to a time when the Arctic region was 50-65 degrees warmer, and home to abundant wildlife - including mastodons, lemmings and geese, The Guardian reports.
According to researchers from the University of Cambridge and University of Coppenhagen, the northern peninsula of Greenland - which is now a polar desert - once contained boreal forests of popular and birch trees that were teeming with wildlife.
"A new chapter spanning 1m extra years of history has finally been opened and for the first time we can look directly at the DNA of a past ecosystem that far back in time," said the researchers, Prof. Eske Willerslev, adding "DNA can degrade quickly but we’ve shown that under the right circumstances, we can now go back further in time than anyone could have dared imagine."
We Need To Talk About This - Balenciaga & Why I Was "Cancelled"
Shoe0nHead: The clothing brand Balenciaga made a creepy photoshoot that threw the internet into complete chaos. Apparently we can't talk about it because it hurts the gays or something.
