Talmud severely insults Jesus Christ on several passages and encourages the destruction of Christians.The London Jewish World of March 15, 1923 declared: "Fundamentally, Judaism is anti-Christian."

Jesus Christ wasn't a Jew
Jesus Christ was a Judean. Not a Jew.Josephus points out that Judeans is the name Hebrews were called by from the day that they came up from Babylon, which is taken from the tribe of Judah, which came first to these places, and thence both they and the country gained that appellation [14].
Benjamin Freedman explains that Jesus Christ was a Judean. Not a Jew. Here are excerpts from Benjamin Freedman's 1954 letter for Dr David Goldstein, LL.D. of Boston, Massachusetts, to explain the history of Khazarian Jews. It has been printed as a booklet with the title Facts are Facts.

"Without any fear of contradiction based upon fact the most competent and best qualified authorities all agree today that Jesus Christ was not a so-called or self-styled "Jew". They do confirm that during His lifetime Jesus was known as a "Judean" by His contemporaries and not as a "Jew", and that Jesus referred to Himself as a "Judean" and not as a "Jew". During His lifetime here on EARTH Jesus was referred to by contemporary historians as a "Judean" and not as a "Jew." Contemporary theologians of Jesus whose competence to pass upon this subject cannot challenge by anyone today also referred to Jesus during his lifetime here on earth as a "Judean" and not as a "Jew".
Inscribed upon the Cross when Jesus was Crucified were the Latin words "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudeorum". Pontius Pilate's mother-tongue. No one will question the fact that Pontius Pilate was well able to accurately express his own ideas in his own mother-tongue. The authorities competent to pass upon the correct translation into English of the Latin "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudeorum" agree that it is "Jesus of Nazarene Ruler of the Judeans." There is no disagreement upon that by them.
During His lifetime here on earth Jesus was not regarded by Pontius Pilate nor by the Judeans among whom He dwelt as "King of the Jews". The inscription on the Cross upon which Jesus was Crucified has been incorrectly translated into the English language only since the 18th century."

ReplyDeleteDead Sea Scrolls Archaeologist Yigael Yadin also pointed out the anger of Israeli Prime Minister Ben Gurion when Ben Gurion found out that Bar Kokhba letters being written in Aramaic.
Yadin says on page 124 of his book "Bar Kokhba: The rediscovery of the legendary hero of the last Jewish Revolt Against Imperial Rome."
"The first thing that struck us was that for no apparent reason some of the letters were written in Aramaic and some in Hebrew. Jews at that period were versed in both languages, yet since most of the letters were in Aramaic, possibly Hebrew had just lately been revived by a Bar-Kokhba decree. I remembered that when I showed the letters to Mr. Ben-Gurion, then the Prime Minister, only the Aramaic documents had yet been opened. "Why did they write in Aramaic and not Hebrew?" was his immediate angry reaction, as if the scribes had been members of his staff."

Hebrew Priest Josephus differentiates Hebrew from his language and the language of first century Israel in his works "Judean Wars" and "Antiquities of Judeans." Josephus calls Hebrew as Hebrew tongue while he calls Aramaic as "our tongue" or "our language" or "the language of our country".
Josephus points out that he wrote Judean wars first in the language of his country ("Aramaic") and later translated into Greek for the sake of such as live under the government of the Romans. Josephus points out how his work "Judean Wars" which he wrote in the language of his country ("Aramaic") was understood accurately by Parthians, Babylonians, the remotest Arabians, and those of his nation beyond Euphrates with the Adiabeni.
H.St.J. Thackeray (who translated Josephus' Judean wars from Greek into English) also point out this - "We learn from the proem that the Greek text was not the first draft of the work. It had been preceded by a narrative written in Aramaic and addressed to "the barbarians in the interior", who are more precisely defined lower down as the natives of Parthia, Babylonia, and Arabia, the Jewish dispersion in Mesopotamia, and the inhabitants of Adiabene, a principality of which the reigning house, as was proudly remembered, were converts to Judaism (B. i, 3, 6). Of this Aramaic work the Greek is described as a "version" made for the benefit of the subjects of the Roman Empire, i.e. the Graeco-Roman world at large.
It must be noted that H. St. J. Thackeray confuses Judaism with Hebrewism since Judaism only began in 500 AD as mentioned above.
But there were some script tampering done by later scribes in Greek version of Josephus' works in order to make it look like Josephus and first century Israel spoke Hebrew. Here is an example.
Josephus' Judean Wars Six, Chapter 2, Paragraph 1 (Greek version) - "Upon this Josephus stood in such a place where he might be heard, not by John only, but by many more, and then declared to them what Caesar had given him in charge, and this in the Hebrew language."
Here is Aramaic version.
Josephus' Judean Wars Six, Chapter 2, Paragraph 1 (Aramaic) - "And Yosephus was not alone to Yokhanan who was hearing, but thus was interpreting that also all people will give heed [to] the words of the Caesar."
In Aramaic version, there is nothing about Hebrew language as you can see above.

Unlike Greek version (of Judean wars 6:2:1), Aramaic version (of Judean wars 6:2:1) is also in complete agreement with Acts 1:19 of New Testament where "Field of Blood" was known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem in their own tongue as Akel Dama which is the transliteration of Aramaic words "Haqal Dama."
It must be noted that Judean is often mistranslated as Jew or anything related to a Jew.
Script tampering in favor of Hebrew can also be seen in Greek NT.
In Aramaic NT, Jesus Christ's Aramaic words on the cross is "Eil, Eil, lmana shwaqthani?" (Matthew 27:46) and in Mark 15:34, both "Eil, Eil, lmana shwaqthani?" and "Elahi Elahi lmana Shwaqthani?" can be read.
So an early Greek NT manuscript Codex Sinaiticus and other Greek NT manuscripts transliterated the words of Jesus Christ as "Elei, Elei, lema sabachtha nei?" and "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthanei" (Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34) [15].
But not Greek NT manuscript Codex Bezae.
Codex Bezae changed these words to "ELei, ELei, Lama Zaphthani?" and "ELi, ELi, Lama Zaphthani?" which is Hebrew.

Notice the fact that Aramaic is not taught as a course in any of American universities and colleges. But both Hebrew and Greek are taught in several American universities.
This is a fascinating subject. 1970's Haileybury Junior School in the UK we were taught Ancient Greek and Latin and that 1.5 to 2.5 million people of all races had died in German POW camps. The preferred bible was the 1946 New English Bible, the translation of which was apparently presided over by a very broad committee of the Christian UK factions. I will add 2 photos to this post of the inside cover that attempts to suggest the progression of translations. I note the word Aramaic does not appear anywhere on these two pages purporting (if you are correct) to map out the history of the bible.

ReplyDeleteWhat the colleges don't teach is the testimony of Josephus who points out that Greek wasn't spoken by Hebrews in first century Israel and also extreme rarity in terms of a Hebrew knowing Greek in first century AD.
"I have also taken a great deal of pains to obtain the learning of the Greeks, and understand the elements of the Greek language, although I have so long accustomed myself to speak our own tongue, that I cannot pronounce Greek with sufficient exactness; for our nation does not encourage those that learn the languages of many nations, and so adorn their discourses with the smoothness of their periods; because they look upon this sort of accomplishment as common, not only to all sorts of free-men, but to as many of the servants as please to learn them. But they give him the testimony of being a wise man who is fully acquainted with our laws, and is able to interpret their meaning; on which account, as there have been many who have done their endeavors with great patience to obtain this learning, there have yet hardly been so many as two or three that have succeeded therein, who were immediately well rewarded for their pains."

Unlike Hebrew Priest Josephus and other Hebrew priests at Jerusalem, the people of first century Israel had no knowledge of Hebrew. This has been confirmed through New Testament. On several occasions in New Testament, Aramaic words are called Hebrew. Here is an example.
John 19:17 (KJV) - "And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha."
The word "Golgotha" is transliteration of an Aramaic word, because "tha" in "Golgotha" is the Aramaic definite article on a feminine noun in an emphatic state

Yes, this is like NIV and ESV. In NIV and ESV, you see Aramaic in John 19:17 instead of Hebrew. This is because NIV and ESV realized that it is not transliteration of a Hebrew word. But an Aramaic word due to the Aramaic definite article "tha."

Unlike Hebrew priests at Jerusalem, the people of first century Israel had no knowledge of Hebrew as mentioned above. So whenever the disciples say Hebrew, they are referring to Hebrew tongue which was Aramaic.
But the translators caused confusions through their translations. Here is an example.
Let's look at Greek NT.
John 19:20 says Ebraisti, Romaisti, Ellenisti for the languages on the cross.
The literal translation of Ebraisti is Hebrew, Romaisti is Roman, and Ellenisti is Hellenistic. But the translators knew that Roman is referring to Roman tongue which was Latin and Hellenistic referring to Hellenistic tongue which was Greek.
But unlike Latin and Greek, several translators saw Ebraisti and translated "literally" as Hebrew instead of translating it as Aramaic which was the Hebrew tongue in first century Israel. But these translators had no problem translating Romaisti as Latin and Ellenistic as Greek.
Here are some examples.
John 19:20 (NLV) - "The place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek, so that many people could read it."
John 19:20 (KJV) - "This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin."
John 19:20 (ASV) - "This title therefore read many of the Jews, for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city; and it was written in Hebrew, and in Latin, and in Greek."
But NET, ESV, and NIV recognized that Ebraisti was referring to Hebrew tongue which was Aramaic in first century Israel.
John 19:20 (NET) - "Thus many of the Jewish residents of Jerusalem read this notice, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the notice was written in Aramaic, Latin, and Greek."
John 19:20 (ESV) - "Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek."
John 19:20 (NIV) - "Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek."
Thank you Elrod. One of the reasons the 'new English bible' has remained my reference is due to such attention. They have bothered to suggest alternative meanings at the bottom of each page throughout the book. At least it makes one mindful of the issue.

As you know, Abraham and his family spoke Aramaic prior to the arrival of Canaan. Abraham's son Isaac married Rebecca, the brother of Laban the Aramean who spoke Aramaic ("Jegar Sahadutha" in Genesis 31:47).
We know Jacob spoke both Aramaic and Old Hebrew.
We also know that Jacob went and married the daughters of Laban in Padan Aram who spoke Aramaic. We know that it was Laban's daughters who named 11 children of Jacob.
In Aramaic OT, Rachel called her last son "Bar Kebi" (Aramaic) while Jacob called him "Benyamin" (Hebrew for Benjamin) (Genesis 35:18).
But in Hebrew OT (written several centuries after Bar Kokhba revolt), the name "Bar Kebi" was translated into Hebrew as "Ben Oni" which created contradiction since the language of Laban and his family was Aramaic (Genesis 31:47).

There are lots of differences between Aramaic version and Greek version. We know about the script tampering of adding Hebrew in Greek version. But not in Aramaic version. But there were other tamperings as well.
