I came across a new tourism brochure that was allegedly printed by
the Palestinian authorities in cooperation with a Japanese government
tourism agency.
:
The brochure has already sparked outrage in the Israel lobby and so their agents have been sent out to set the record straight. (although they fail)
The brochure is considered – by the Israel lobby – as an all out attack on the Israeli state since it refers to Palestine following the pre-1948 borders. In the brochure Israel doesn’t even exist.
I find this brochure very entertaining considering the various perspectives it follows. Admitted, the brochure is largely a political expression but it does hold multiple truths nonetheless. Truths that the occupying state hates and constantly refers to as being antisemitic. A cheap shot.
Aside from anything else that can be argued about there’s something that stands out of all the rest, at least for me.
Japan.
Japan has co-sponsored this initiative and I have this feeling they have a good reason for doing so. It’s a gentle way of denouncing Israel’s involvement in 3/11 (Fukushima) and I have yet to find anyone who can credibly refute my statement here.
It is not the first time that Japan publicly confirms its support for Palestine, at least two times before 3/11 (2011) did Japan take firm positions against Israel’s occupation in Palestine.

You can provide cash as much as you want but given that a simple 6-page brochure can trigger a true storm of outrage in the Israel lobby across the world I believe such a brochure is a very cost-effective solution in making a political statement. Very low-priced yet striking, in the very center and where it hurts the most.
What else are both nations to do when being kept hostage by foreign powers?

- The Government of Japan deplores the decisions of the Government of Israel to give permission for the construction of 1,600 housing units in East Jerusalem in addition to 112 units in West Bank just after the Israeli and Palestinian leadership’s acceptance of the start of indirect talks. The Government of Japan does not recognize any act that prejudges the final status of Jerusalem and the territories in the pre-1967 borders. Japan demands that the plans should not be implemented.
- The Government of Japan continues to request strongly that both parties will act in a way that enhances mutual confidence. Japan sincerely hopes that the indirect talks in the peace process will swiftly develop into the resumption of direct talks between the two parties.
- The Government of Japan is concerned about the Jerusalem municipal planning committee’s approval of a plan to build housing units for Jewish people in the Sheih Jarrah of East Jerusalem. Such act goes against the efforts by the international community to resume the negotiations.
- The Government of Japan does not recognize any act that prejudges the final status of the territories in the pre-1967 borders nor Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem. Japan urges Israel to refrain from any unilateral act that changes the current situation in East Jerusalem.
