The International Commission of Jurists has recognised that the
forced circumcision of men is an inhumane act.. However, others have
urged that the forced circumcision of men should be regarded as a form
of sexual violence akin to rape.
I would urge those who are concerned about the morality of circumcision to recognise that the forced circumcision of men and older children is a serious problem, and to push for those who forcibly circumcise men to be branded as sex offenders. This would help to stigmatise those who commit this form of sexual violence on others.
