Metallica's James Hetfield Says NO POLITICS… Has He Heard His Own Songs?!

'Hetfield and Sheeran share the same zionist Jew handler.'

Tadhg Hickey: Metallica's James Hetfield has declared that the band isn't interested in influencing audiences with political “bullshit”. Apparently, rock music is now about forgetting the world's problems. There's just one rather enormous problem with that. Has James Hetfield ever listened to Metallica? From the anti-war classic One to Disposable Heroes, Blackened and …And Justice for All, Metallica built much of their legacy on confronting war, corruption, injustice and the darker side of humanity. And here's the extraordinary bit: Metallica performed two of those songs on the very night Hetfield made his speech!

With artists like Macklemore speaking out about Gaza and the music industry increasingly embroiled in arguments about Palestine, censorship and corporate pressure, what exactly does it mean to demand that musicians keep politics out of music? And why are the people celebrating Hetfield's supposedly apolitical stance immediately turning it into a political statement themselves? I take a look at the extraordinary contradictions, the corporate sanitisation of rock music, and whether the rebellious spirit of rock 'n' roll has finally retired to Las Vegas. Can you really separate music from politics? Let me know what you think in the comments — especially if you're a Metallica fan!
