Tepco Says Toxic Water Has Been Leaking Into The Sea From Fukushima Plant for 2 Years!

By Tsuyoshi Inajima & Jacob Adelman: Groundwater laced with radiation from melted reactors at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi atomic plant north of Tokyo has been leaking into the Pacific Ocean, raising concern the toxic water has been flowing into the sea since the disaster at the facility more than two years ago.
Backtracking on previous comments, Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501) confirmed the groundwater leaks last night, earning a rebuke from the government today to stop the leaks that Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said were “serious.” 

Tepco, as the utility is known, suspected the breach after finding water levels in monitoring wells moving in sync with tidal flows, spokeswoman Kaoru Suzuki said by phone today. The operator doesn’t know when the leaks started or how much radiated water has drained into the ocean, she said. Water samples suggest contamination has been contained in the port area near the Fukushima plant, Suzuki said.
“I don’t know why Tepco was so circumspect about acknowledging that there was a leak,” Jota Kanda, a professor at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, said by phone today. “Most marine experts who have studied the effect of the Fukushima disaster on surrounding ocean areas hold the view that radioactive water has been leaking from the plant. It’s common sense.”

Now we have David Cameron informing us that child pornography is so rampant on the Internet it needs to be censored, which means of course nothing less than a stop gap to prevent anything which happens to bother or concern the ruling authorities from reaching the light of day.

The Jimmy Savile affair involved many high-level establishment figures. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg so far and it is a fair guess that’s about as much as we shall ever discover. The fact that Savile was using primetime BBC children’s programs to pimp was the worst kept secret in modern times.
Like the Cliveden scandal of the 60’s, which similarly involved the elites, including members of the royal family, romping with prostitutes at Lord Astor’s country estate, the Savile business could only have happened with the knowledge and concurrence of the Secret Services.
Are we saying they never knew that judges, MPs, Lords, royalty and so forth were up to indescribable and horrific practices in the Savile fold? Where were they? Asleep in their ivory towers? Of course not.

The Slog: When I read The Times piece yesterday about the ‘landmark’ ruling on the Family Courts, I had a sense of part deja vu, and part ennuie. We have been here so many times, and I have come to see how easy it is to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. In many ways, both the Family Courts ruling and Cameron’s attempt at an online porn ban could have unpleasant consequences.

When, last April, Sir James Munby, the President of the Family Division, warned Judges throughout England and Wales to “get a grip” regarding the family courts, a few folks got excited. But it was clear Munby had missed the point: he merely wanted to add two gears to the getaway car: he told Judges to “speed things up”.

RT: Leaked internal data produced by Pakistani officials documenting drone strikes on the ground reveal a high civilian death toll, (20%) countering US claims that the targeted assassination campaign results in “exceedingly rare” fatalities.
A 12-page report, titled ‘Details of Attacks by NATO Forces/Predators in FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas)’ describes 75 CIA drone attacks between 2006 and 2009, with death tolls compiled by officials in the turbulent border regions for internal use by the government. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism – a UK news website – says it obtained three identical copies of the classified document from various sources in Pakistan.
The numbers show a death toll of 746 people, 147 of whom were confirmed as civilians. Of those civilian deaths, 94 are children. Statistically, it means at least one in five victims of US precision strikes was a civilian, and more than 12 per cent were minors.
