By John Hyde: A High Court judge has said he will refuse to allow alleged domestic abusers to cross examine their victims in any future hearings he oversees.
Mr Justice Hayden said he found it 'extremely disturbing’ that a father appearing in person was able to question his former partner and mother to their 11-year-old son. The father was said to have threatened to kill his wife and prone to violent outbursts of temper in which he would frequently slap and push her.
Nevertheless, Hayden said it was necessary to allow the father to conduct cross examination of the mother directly. She was not present in the courtroom but cross examined by video link: the judge granted her permission to sit with her back to the video screen.
The judge said the mother, whom he described as articulate, educated and highly motivated to provide a decent life for herself and her son, faced an 'invidious choice' to submit to personal cross examination to order for the case to be concluded.

Alex Gardega, Sculptor, Adds ‘Peeing Dog’ Next To Wall Street’s ‘Fearless Girl’

By Emily Zanotti: Last weekend, sculptor  Alex Gardega added his own third statue to what is now a growing bronze tableau on Wall Street, angering fans of the “Fearless Girl,” a work erected in honor of International Women’s Day that depicts a young woman defiantly staring down Wall Street’s famous bronze “Charging Bull.”
The new statue, “Sketchy Dog,” depicts a small, pug-type canine raising his leg to pee on Fearless Girl’s foot. Gardega left it up for only three hours, but it was enough to send social media into a panic.
He was quickly branded a “snowflake,” a “misogynist” and an “a**hole” for “diminishing” the Fearless Girl and, apparently, reinforcing the ideals of Patriarchy and oppression of the entire female gender.
But Gardega says he wasn’t trying to “diminish” Fearless Girl—at least, not anymore than Fearless Girl diminished the Charging Bull. He says he was making a statement both about how derivative works change the meaning of art, and how corporations co-opt movements to their own ends.

By William Collins aka MRA-UK: I said I’d do a less depressing blog. Cancer may seem like a curious choice for an upbeat post, but actually there have been several pieces of good news about prostate cancer in the last few months which are worth bringing to your attention.
In the UK, around 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer annually, and about 11,000 men die of the disease per year (roughly the same as the number of women who die from breast cancer).
There are things you can do to minimise the risk to yourself. In the UK, you need to be pro-active. The NHS will do nothing unless you make the first move.

1. The PSA Test

In the UK there is no national screening programme for prostate cancer (or any other male-only cancer). The usual test is the so-called PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test, which is a blood test.
Men over 50 are advised to consider having a PSA test for prostate cancer.
