By William Collins: The Online Safety Act received Royal Assent on 26 October 2023. It is a long and highly complex Act. I doubt that anyone has a full understanding of its ramifications – yet. Nor can I claim to have read it all, life is too short. It has pleased no one. Those who prioritise freedom and privacy are vehemently opposed to it. Those who focus only on its supposed protection of children are disappointed that (in their view) it does not go far enough. Here I review a few key points only. But first, some generalities about the law.

I have ceased to be so naïve as to believe that the law is defined by primary legislation. This is still the widespread belief, but it falls short of the full truth for three reasons, discussed below. Of course, primary legislation sets the broad outline of the law. But there is invariably considerable latitude in its interpretation.

Authored by Marina Zhang: There may be around a 1 in 10 chance that Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccines will not generate spike proteins but something else, a new Cambridge study finds, raising concerns about autoimmune response among experts.

The study authors found that 8 percent of the time, Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are mistranslated, leading to the formation of unintended proteins.

“Our work presents both a concern and a solution for this new type of medicine,” said leading author Anne Willis in the study’s press release.

One can think of mRNA vaccines as a set of instructions used to make spike proteins. Once the vaccine enters the cell, ribosomes interpret the mRNA instructions to make proteins, like spike proteins.

If the instructions are misinterpreted, errors in the final protein may be produced. Some errors are minor, like misspelling one word in a text, while others are more detrimental.

By Jonathan Cook: Barely a day has passed since the 7 October attack by Hamas when the western media has not revisited those events, often to reveal what it claims are new details of astonishing atrocities carried out by the Palestinian group.

These disclosures have served to sustain public indignation in the West, and kept Palestinian solidarity activists on the back foot. 

In turn, the outrage has smoothed Israel’s path as it has levelled vast swaths of Gaza; killed more than 18,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children; and denied the enclave’s population of 2.3 million access to food, water and fuel. 

Critically, it has also made it far easier for western governments to throw their weight behind Israel – and arm it – even as Jewish leaders have repeatedly engaged in genocidal talk and carried out ethnic cleansing operations.
