The Guardian Revealed Its True Face In Sacking A Columnist For Criticising US Military Aid To The Jews' Apartheid Israel

Corporate media like 'The Guardian' are not an ally to the left, they are the enemy.

By Jonathan Cook: The revelation that a leftwing journalist, Nathan J Robinson, has been sacked as a Guardian US columnist for criticising Israel on Twitter – and that he was pressured to keep quiet about it by Guardian editors – should come as no surprise. He is only the latest in a long line of journalists, myself included, who have run foul of the Guardian’s unwritten but tightly policed constraints on what can be said about Israel. In the tweet below, I have listed a few of the more prominent – and public – examples of journalists who have suffered at the Guardian’s hands over their coverage of Israel. By Kenny Stancil: Four pharmaceutical corporations that agreed to pay a combined $26 billion to settle lawsuits resulting from a deadly opioid crisis they helped create reportedly plan to recoup a portion of those costs by deducting roughly $4.6 billion of the payouts from their taxes—sparking intense condemnation.

Big Pharma is attempting to make the public cover some of the fines related to lawsuits filed by dozens of state and local governments highlighting the culpability of opioid manufacturers and distributors in the deaths of an estimated 70,000 people per year.

As Public Citizen president Robert Weissman put it in a statement released Friday, "The drug companies are settling with taxpayers (local government entities) and then demanding that taxpayers pay part of the cost (via a federal tax subsidy)."

Republicans are treating the Democrats’ double-standard as hypocrisy, but it is much worse than that. It is proof of the insouciance of the American people that has resulted in the loss of standards of truth, civil liberty, and democracy.  The ruling double-standards and indifference to evidence—indeed, the preference for lie in place of fact—are proof that American societal and governmental institutions have been completely corrupted.
