Now the thing is, If he wins, does he qualify for diplomat immunity as a senator? Lets hope so. Lets hope this will give Julian safe passage to Australia. There will always be a threat of CIA operative assassins after him. The USA and CIA are in the assassination business. That is a well known fact.

Julian Assange launches WikiLeaks political party via Skype

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has reportedly launched his political party through Skype link from London to Melbourne's Fitzroy library.
According to The Age, Assange, a candidate for a Victorian senate position spoke from the Ecuadorian embassy in London where he has been holed up from more than a year.
Spokesperson for the WikiLeaks party, Samantha Cross said that Assange stressed how the party 'would keep the bastards honest' and said that he wants to be back in Australia to take up his seat and was hopeful that that would occur.
Assange further said that if it doesn't happen then the party will nominate a running mate, which is Leslie Cannold.
Cross said that Assange spoke about the party's platform of transparency and how they have very highly skilled candidates with academic, social justice, legal and journalistic backgrounds and were 'not your traditional politicians' having interest in transparency and scrutiny, who want to bring the Senate back to a house of oversight.
According to the report Assange said that one of the party's first action would be to insist on full disclosure of the current refugee arrangement with the Papua New Guinea government.
Wikileaks is fielding candidates to contest six Senate seats at the upcoming federal election, two each in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia, the report added.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange officially launched his Australian political party on Thursday with a videolink from London to Melbourne's Fitzroy library.
Mr Assange -- a candidate for a Victorian seat in the federal Senate -- was speaking from the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has been granted asylum while Sweden pursue him over allegations of rape.
The Ecuadorian government says Mr Assange may face persecution from a third country if he is made to submit to questioning in Sweden.
WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange is a Victorian Senate candidate.
A spokeswoman for the party, Samantha Castro, said Mr Assange stressed how the WikiLeaks Party "would keep the bastards honest".
"He talked about wanting to be back in Australia to take up his seat. He was hopeful that that would occur," said Ms Castro.
"If it doesn't, the party will nominate a running mate, which is [ethicist and commentator] Leslie Cannold."
In the event of a vacancy, Senate rules allow the seat to be filled by a member of the same party, unlike in the House of Representatives, where a byelection is required.
Mr Assange faces extradition to Sweden over sexual assault and rape charges, but has also stated his concerns he could be extradited to the United States to face serious charges in relation to WikiLeaks' 2010 release of US State department diplomatic cables.
WikiLeaks is fielding candidates to contest six Senate seats at the upcoming federal election -- two each in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.
Ms Cannold and academic Dr Binoy Kampmark are also on the Victorian ticket. Lawyer and human rights activist Kellie Tranter and academic Dr Alison Broinowski are on the NSW ticket, while Western Australia's two candidates are Students Without Borders founder Gerry Georgatos and disability advocate Suresh Rajan.
