The Electronic Intifada: According to the health ministry, nearly 1,440 people in the occupied Gaza Strip were killed and more than 5,000 injured since the start of a nominal ceasefire in October last year, as of the end of September, including 938 men, 324 children, 140 women and 38 older persons.

At least 74,040 people in Gaza were killed between 7 October 2023 and 1 October 2026, according to the ministry, which recorded more than 175,000 injuries during the same period. More than 830 bodies have been recovered from the rubble, according to the ministry.

Palestinian Civil Defense teams had recovered 96 bodies and human remains from a single site in al-Zaytoun, near Gaza City, which was bombed in November 2023, the UN human rights office stated on 15 September.

“Of the bodies and remains recovered, 58 were children and 23 women,” the UN office added. “Most of the remains have been recovered using bare hands.”
