Google having received over 1,000 requests from
government authorities to remove YouTube videos and content from its
search results to know that censorship is a growing trend. And it’s not
confined to Big Brother.
If you tuned into last week's Trends in the News video you heard me tell of my personal experience of how pervasive the censorship trend is. On June 9th, just minutes before I took the podium to deliver a keynote address at a Rotarian District Conference banquet, I was informed that the 200 copies of the Spring Trends Journal that I had brought to distribute to attendees had been hastily removed the chairs on which they had been placed. The Journals were moved to a table outside the banquet room for a brief time before they were again removed and put back in their boxes.
Why? Rotary District President Tansukh Dorawala, told me, “Someone found the cover offensive and we had to remove them.”
The cover art, created by award winning artist Anthony Freda, encapsulates, graphically and poignantly, an extremely important message regarding the direction in which America is trending and how dire the consequences will be. As you well know, the illustration portrays a rainbow coalition of obese Americans boarding box cars plainly labeled “Made in U.S.A.” The headline above declares: “Next Train to Auschwitz: All Aboard! Kiss those calories goodbye.”
Provocative, yes, but who would find the truth “offensive”? After all, Americans of all ages are, statistically, the most obese people on the planet. Was the “someone” who “found the cover offensive” obese? And if so, does that justify censorship?
Or was it the word “Auschwitz?” Was the offended “someone” Jewish? Or was that “someone” German? Or was that “someone” an obese Jew or German?
Whoever the “someone” was and whatever caused him or her to be offended, the craven acquiescence of the Rotary leadership perfectly illustrates the accuracy of that cover (click here): a grossly overweight, slovenly dressed, pop-culture-conditioned, browbeaten populace (systematically robbed of their Constitutional rights by Presidents Bush and Obama, and stripped of their dignity by TSA gropers) is obediently heading for the boxcars.
The “offensive” cover is, of course, simply an introduction to the content of the Spring Trends Journal. But because a “someone” or somebody’s didn’t like what they saw, a worldwide organization with 1.2 million members that claims to dedicate itself to “Peace Through Service” deprived its members of 44 pages devoted to peace!
The Journal presents the facts, supportive data and analyses of legislation, Executive Orders, Supreme Court rulings, and government guidelines that portend a Nazi-style dictatorship for the country that still bills itself as the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave” … though not quite free enough or brave enough to allow Rotarians to read The Trends Journal.
America and other so called “democracies” are descending into lands of censorship: government censorship, citizen censorship, and self-censorship. Will you rise up, stand up, speak out and fight for your freedom? Will “We the People” continue to cower before political clowns and uniformed bullies and submissively board the “Next Train to Auschwitz?”
Personal Note: When I tell this story to people that know me, their first question is “What did you do?” They assume I gave the Rotary President a piece of my mind, and told him something like, “How dare you remove The Trends Journal. What a rude and gutless thing to do” ... and that I walked out without giving my talk.
But I didn’t do that. Instead, once I absorbed the insult, I put into practice my years of close combat training and meditation practices. Becoming centered, balanced and grounded allowed me to give my talk unaffected … as if the incident had not occurred. The talk went well, I never alluded to the insult, and the audience never knew they had been denied The Trends Journal.
We’re sending you this Trend Alert because it’s a firsthand account and not a bland, abstract news item that happened to somebody else. It puts into personal perspective the dangerous censorship trend that is affecting everyone, in one form or another.
You may recall that, following 9/11, when people such as myself spoke out in opposition to the United States invading Afghanistan, President Bush warned all Americans “If you are not with us, you’re with the terrorists.” Rest assured, another 9/11 moment, be it terrorism (contrived or real), war, or economic meltdown is predictable. And rest assured, if the censorship trend continues on its current course, not only will you be censored, but in one way or another, punished for speaking your mind.
As subscribers, you know that above all else, The Trends Journal speaks its mind, regardless of the consequences. Censorship by the Rotarians was an overt instance of censorship, but we experience covert censorship from the mainstream media all the time. There is a substantial audience out there who could not only personally benefit from Trends Journal analyses and forecasts, but who could also help swell the ranks of those, like ourselves, working to create a more civilized future: Renaissance 2.0.
If you value what we do, what we say and what we stand for, we would appreciate your spreading the word.
Sincerely,
Gerald Celente
