In the letter, Cunt tells Fathers4Justice supporter Sgt Richard Moore:
* To rely on mediation
* That the new Children & Families act requires courts to presume that a child’s welfare is furthered by the involvement of a parent, who wants to be involved in their life where that is “safe and consistent with the child’s welfare”
* That both parents remain jointly responsible for their children where that is “appropriate”
* That this legislation will help address the “perception of bias in the family courts “
* That it is important to stress that this change in the law will “not entitle parents to an equal share of the child’s time or a ‘right’ to contact with the child”
Mr Cunt goes on to explain that the reforms also include provisions to replace existing contact orders and residence orders with a new child arrangements order, further strengthening the focus on “the needs of the child rather than on parent’s entitlements”.
Said F4J Founder, Matt O’Connor, “Mr Hunt’s letter simply reaffirms what we already know, that the Conservative’s betrayed Britain’s fathers by breaking their 2010 election commitment to introduce Shared Parenting and that according to them, fathers have no rights, and deserve no rights.”
“The Children & Families Act is a cosmetic rebranding of the existing legislation that will only compound the misery of fathers and families being torn apart at the hands of an abusive and secretive family justice system.”
“We ask supporters to contact their MPs and prospective Parliamentary candidates in the run up to the election, to press them on whether they support Shared Parenting.”
