Justice for Men & Boys, & the women who love them: The date for this debate was moved and Philip Davies MP (C, Shipley) was unable to attend. As usual the debate was held in Westminster Hall, a less prestigious location than the chamber of the House of Commons which is always made available for the International Women's Day debate.
Only seven MPs (out of a total of 650) attended and contributed to this debate.
A tip of the hat to Nick Fletcher MP (C, Don Valley) for introducing this debate and calling out Gavin Newlands, a misandrous POS SNP MP opposed to the very existence of International Men's Day, who attacked men as a class for almost 20 minutes, presumably in a bid to suck up to The Sturgeon, his party leader. He criticised Philip Davies and J4MB, referring to our "Lying Feminist of the Month" awards (his colleagues in the SNP won a number of them).
But he wasn't alone in trotting out anti-male narratives, and even the IMD supporters related a number of well-known lies about men's issues, including the lie that the overwhelming majority of perpetrators of dometic violence are men. The female MPs in particular victim blamed men and boys, attributing their reluctance to seek help (e.g. when considering suicide) to "gender stereotypes".
The timeline: Nick Fletcher MP - 0:00 - 15:14 Scott Benton (C, Blackpool South) - 15:22 - 20:43 Margaret Ferrier (SNP, Rutherglen and Hamilton West) 20:45 - 28:03 Maria Miller (C, Basingstoke), former Minister for Women & Equalities, former chair of the Women & Equalities Committee 28:05 - 39:04 Gavin Newlands (SNP, Paisley and Renfrewshire North) 39:06 - 58:52 Anneliese Dodds (Labour & Co-operative, Oxford West) Shadow Minister for Women & Equalities 58:53 - 1:10:08 Kemi Badenoch (C, Saffron Walden), Minister for Women & Equalities 1:10:10 - 1:21:20 Nick Fletcher MP, winding up - 1:21:21 - 1:23:25
