AI Is A Gun, Not A Nuke

They will try to scare people into supporting regulations...We must not fall for it.

Authored by Dylan Dean: It's in vogue, as artificial intelligence becomes more sophisticated, to compare A.I. systems to nuclear weapons.  Such analogies have come from traditional media like Bloombergniche internet microcelebrities, and the world's most famous A.I. doomer, Eliezer Yudkowsky.

But this comparison does not hold up to scrutiny.

Game Theory - the study of how rational actors interact - shows us why A.I. is not the threat it is made out to be.  A.I. is more like a gun than a nuclear weapon.

Nuclear weapons are unlike all other weapons because of their destructive power.

If two nations have a nuclear exchange, both sides lose: missiles will be in the air, with no hope of disabling enemy weaponry in time to prevent a strike.

'Statistically Significant Increase' In Myopericarditis & Single Organ Cutaneous Vasculitis Found After COVID Vaccination

Authored by Megan Redshaw: A large nationwide study of more than 4 million people in New Zealand identified a statistically significant association in two adverse events following vaccination with Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.

In the post-marketing safety study recently published in Springer, researchers examining 12 specific adverse events found an increase in myopericarditis during the 21-day period following both Pfizer vaccine doses. Myopericarditis describes two distinct inflammatory heart conditions that occur simultaneously, myocarditis and pericarditis.

The highest rate of myopericarditis was observed in the youngest participants under 39 years of age following the second vaccine dose—with an estimated five additional myopericarditis cases per 100,000 persons vaccinated regardless of age. Researchers also observed an increase following both vaccine doses in individuals aged 40 to 59.

In Vladivostok, the Russian Far East rises

Authored by Pepe Escobar: In Vladivostok this week, the 'Russian Far East' was on full, glorious display. Russia, China, India, and the Global South were all there to contribute to this trade, investment, infrastructure, transportation, and institutional renaissance.

Russian President Vladimir Putin opened and closed his quite detailed address to the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok with a resounding message: “The Far East is Russia’s strategic priority for the entire 21st century.”

And that’s exactly the feeling one would have prior to the address, interacting with business executives mingling across the stunning forum grounds at the Far Eastern Federal University (opened only 11 years ago), with the backdrop of the more than four kilometer-long suspension bridge to Russky Island across the Eastern Bosphorus strait.

Musk-Netanyahu Meeting All About AI & Innovation, Israel Says, As WaPo Pushes 'Antisemitism' Cover-Up

MSM hit piece says it's "Musk's Jewish friends & allies" running PR for him...

By Tyler Durden: Prime Minister Bibi 'The Baby Butcher' Netanyahu's office has confirmed that he'll meet with Elon Musk when he travels to San Francisco next week, part of a broader US trip in which he's scheduled to address the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, and meet on the sidelines with US President Joe Biden (which falls far short of the hoped-for invitation to the White House, which has still yet to happen since the PM took office).

An official representing Netanyahu's office emphasized that the Monday Silicon Valley meeting with Musk and other tech leaders is all about discussing artificial intelligence. But The Washington Post and other major outlets are busy trying to hype it as but PR damage control, with headlines linking the meeting to raging controversy over charges of antisemitism.

Why The Media Aren’t Telling Whole Story Of Libya’s Floods

There are reasons for Libya’s chaotic, dysfunctional response to the disaster. And to identify them, we need to look closer to home

By Jonathan Cook: The reality of the West’s trademark current foreign policy – marketed for the past two decades under the principle of a “Responsibility to Protect” – is all too visible amid Libya’s flood wreckage.

Many thousands are dead or missing in the port of Derna after two dams protecting the city burst this week as they were battered by Storm Daniel. Vast swaths of housing in the region, including in Benghazi, west of Derna, lie in ruins.

The storm itself is seen as further proof of a mounting climate crisis, rapidly changing weather patterns across the globe and making disasters like Derna’s flooding more likely.

But the extent of the calamity cannot simply be ascribed to climate change. Though the media coverage studiously obscures this point, Britains actions 12 years agowhen it trumpeted its humanitarian concern for Libyaare intimately tied to Dernas current suffering.

Dr. Robert Redfield Comes Clean On Government Censorship

"There was such an attempt to not let anybody get any hint that maybe vaccines werent foolproof..."

Authored by Lloyd Billingsley: “My position was just tell the American public the truth. There are side effects to vaccines. Tell them the truth and don’t try to package it.”

That was Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control during the administration of Donald Trump.

Dr. Redfield recently went on record that the government health bureaucracy tried to quash discussion about the ineffectiveness of Covid vaccines.

“There was such an attempt to not let anybody get any hint that maybe vaccines weren’t foolproof, which, of course, we now know they have significant limitations,” said Redfield, who co-founded the University of Maryland’s Institute of Human Virology and served as the Chief of Infectious Diseases and Vice Chair of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

“I think we should have really confidence and not be afraid to debate the issues that we think are in the public’s interest and just tell the public the truth,” said the former CDC director. This wasn’t the first time Dr. Redfield had been at odds with the government health establishment.
