The main topic of this year's meeting is "Law in a Multipolar World". The appeal was recorded during a recent working trip of the head of state to St. Petersburg.

Theses: Some states are not ready to accept the loss of dominance on the world stage. They seek to preserve the unfair unipolar model. Under the guise of so-called rule-based order and other dubious concepts, they are trying to control and direct global processes at their discretion. They are pursuing a policy of creating closed blocs and coalitions that make decisions that are beneficial to only one country - the United States of America.

Energy Crisis Could Force The UK To Keep Using Coal

...the cost-of-living crisis in the UK with soaring energy bills may have prompted the government to not explicitly pledge again an end to coal in two years’ time...

Authored by Tsvetana Paraskova: The UK government introduced to Parliament on Wednesday the Energy Security Bill, a proposed legislation that does not explicitly confirm the UK’s pledge to end coal use by October 2024.

The bill, the goal of which is to “deliver a cleaner, more affordable, and more secure energy system,” doesn’t mention coal, Bloomberg notes, while a spokesperson for the Department of Energy, Business and Industrial Strategy didn’t immediately respond to Bloomberg for comment.

The UK said last year it would bring forward its target to end coal use in electricity generation by one year, to October 2024, as part of its aim to lead the world in tackling climate change. The UK also tried to persuade countries in the COP-26 climate summit in Glasgow last autumn to pledge to ditch coal as soon as possible.

By Tyler Durden: Days ago Reuters reported that Indian imports of Russian oil surged in June, reaching 950,000 barrels of cheap Russian oil per day. From May (where India imported 819,000 bpd) this marked a 15.5% rise, while simultaneously imports from its number one and (now) number three suppliers - Iraq and Saudi Arabia - dropped 10.5% and 13.5%, respectively. And this is a massive leap up from from the 277,000 bpd imported in April.

The Reuters report further underscored that as the West moves to ban and sanction Russian oil altogether, it's China and India that now account for 50% of Russian seaborne exports, lured by hugely discounted prices compared to the Brent international benchmark.

By Tyler Durden: China is fuming after the US Navy on Wednesday sailed a destroyer near the Chinese Xisha Islands in the South China Sea. The Navy's 7th fleet said that the guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold was in the region and passed near the island chain to uphold "the rights, freedoms, and lawful uses of the sea."

China's Southern Theater Command, however, said it closely monitored the American vessel as it had "illegally entered" China's territorial waters. The PLA military said it drove the warship away.

The Chinese military statement said in reference to the USS Benfold that it "organized naval and air forces to track and monitor it, send warnings and drive it away."
