The US Political Environment I Want To See

Being called a traitor by Dick Cheney is the highest honor you can give an American, and the more panicked talk we hear from people like him, Feinstein, and King, the better off we all are. If they had taught a class on how to be the kind of citizen Dick Cheney worries about, I would have finished high school. – Edward Snowden
By Michael Krieger: Today’s post will focus on the political environment I’d like to see, not in my ideal fantasy world, but within the context of the system we have today.
As things stand, we’re being bombarded relentlessly about how divided we are as a people and how these divisions have become insurmountable. By constantly focusing on genuinely divisive social issues, the media creates a self-fulfilling prophesy, which merely serves to divide us further. Allowing ourselves to be pitted against one another redirects much of our political energy, and ensures we will never unite and face the real existential threats to the nation.
The truth of the matter is this. We as Americans have a legacy that consists of certain key principles enshrined in our Constitution. The most important of these are the first ten amendments to our founding document, known as the Bill of Rights. These simple yet timeless passages inform us we posses certain liberties that should never be infringed upon no matter what emotional state the public or politicians happen to be in at any given moment. They protect us not just from the government, but also from the periodic unrestrained, authoritarian passions of each other.

UK Families Devastated By False FGM Claims ~ Meanwhile Boys Genitally Mutilated MGM With Impunity, Because Jews

Via Stu, J4MB: This. A few key facts about genital mutilation:
  • both FGM and MGM are illegal in the UK, under the Offences Against the Person Act (1861). FGM is also specifically illegal under a 1985 Act, introduced at the behest of feminists who had no interest in MGM coming to an end
  • MGM is carried out by men at the behest of men
  • FGM is carried out by women at the behest of women
  • all MGM is more injurious than most FGM
  • MGM is common in the UK, especially in Muslim and Jewish families
  • FGM is rarely carried out in the UK, and the police / CPS do not target the cohort of women carrying it out, middle-aged and elderly black women, so determined are they to perpetuate the lying feminist narrative (the word ‘lying’ is superfluous, of course) that FGM is carried out at the behest of men. In Africa in particular, women oppose initiatives to end FGM, while men support the initiatives

Dear Russia: An Enemy Is Not A Partner

By Paul Craig Roberts: Russians are concerned about Washington’s arbitrary closing of their San Francisco consulate and the illegal searching of diplomatic properties. There is no question that Washington has violated diplomatic protections and international law.
Why did Washington show its outlaw face to the world?
Was it to show that as strong as Russia is, Russia cannot protect herself from Washington? No international law, no diplomatic immunity can stand in Washington’s way. Washington can violate all law with no consequence.
Washington’s view is that might, and only might, makes right. Law is thrown out of the window, so why does Russia rely on law in her dealings with Washington?

Was it to plant some fake evidence in the Russian properties of Russian complicity in the US presidential election that elected a candidate that prefered peace over conflict with Russia?
Russia’s foreign minister Lavrov has told the US Secretary of State that Russia is going to sue over the seizure and search of Russia’s diplomatic properties. So, here we see again the Russians trying to deal with Washington through law, courts, diplomacy, whatever, and not facing the real issue.
What is the real issue?
The Real Issue is that the US military/security complex, the most powerful component of the US government, has decided that Russia is the ENEMY that justifies its $1,000 billion annual budget and the power that goes with it.

Is US Really A 3% GDP Economy?

Max and Stacy discuss ‘the mysterious' moves in gold markets moments before Janet Yellen spoke in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the equally mysterious, unknowable event that happened in the mid-seventies to cause wages to decline as productivity continued to climb. In the second half, Max interviews Mish Shedlock of MishTalk.com about the latest in US financial markets and data: Is it really a 3% GDP economy?

The Arab American Radicals Who Paved Way For BDS Against Genocidal Apartheid Jewish State

"Shared outrage over the dispossession of Palestinian Arabs through the establishment of the state of Israel.”
By Rod Such: The Rise of the Arab American Left: Activists, Allies, and Their Fight against Imperialism and Racism, 1960s-1980s by Pamela E. Pennock, The University of North Carolina Press (2017)
One of the earliest boycott, divestment and sanctions, or BDS, victories in the United States came in 1973 when United Auto Workers Local 600 in Dearborn, Michigan, voted to divest its Israeli bonds after a campaign waged by the Arab Workers Caucus and the American Arab Coordinating Committee. The campaign drew comparisons with apartheid South Africa and won the support of many Black autoworkers in Michigan.
Was it just an oddity that decades before Palestinian civil society called for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel in 2005, industrial workers in the US heartland were already waging a BDS struggle? Or, far from being a rogue wave, was it an integral part of the oceanic upheavals among workers, students, immigrants and people of color during the heady maelstroms of the 1960s and ’70s?
