Double Irish With A Dutch Sandwich
Definition of 'Double Irish With A Dutch Sandwich'A tax avoidance technique employed by certain large corporations, involving the use of a combination of Irish and Dutch subsidiary companies to shift profits to low or no tax jurisdictions. The double Irish with a Dutch sandwich technique involves sending profits first through one Irish company, then to a Dutch company and finally to a second Irish company headquartered in a tax haven. This technique has allowed certain corporations to dramatically reduce their overall corporate tax rates. |

Investopedia explains 'Double Irish With A Dutch Sandwich'The double Irish with a Dutch sandwich technique is just one of a class of similar international tax avoidance schemes. Each involves arranging transactions between subsidiary companies to take advantage of the idiosyncrasies of varied national tax codes. These techniques are most prominently used by tech companies because these firms can easily shift large portions of profits to other countries by assigning intellectual property rights to subsidiaries abroad. |
New Study Shows: Food Fraud Soared 60% Last Year
By Michael Krieger: So what is food fraud anyway? Well, it’s sort of what you would
expect. It’s when companies label food one way, but the truth turns out
to be completely different. I have been predicting an escalation in
this trend for years, since it was obvious that as inflation led to
increases in food prices, companies would resort to this type of
behavior to keep margins inflated.
So in their latest study, the non-profit food fraud detectives at the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) show us the extent of this extremely dangerous trend. From ABC News:
It’s what we expect as shoppers—what’s in the food will be displayed on the label.
But a new scientific examination by the non-profit food fraud detectives the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), discovered rising numbers of fake ingredients in products from olive oil to spices to fruit juice.
In a new database to be released Wednesday, and obtained exclusively by ABC News today, USP warns consumers, the FDA and manufacturers that the amount of food fraud they found is up by 60 percent this year.
So what are the most commonly faked products?
Among the most popular targets for unscrupulous food suppliers? Pomegranate juice, which is often diluted with grape or pear juice.
How about that lemon juice?
“One had 10 percent lemon juice, it said it had 100 percent

62-Year-Old With Gun Only One Standing Between Nation And Full - Scale US Fascist Government Takeover
The Onion: NORFOLK, VA — According to numerous reports,
local 62-year-old Earl Bailey, who owns a shotgun and several boxes of
ammunition, is currently the last bastion of defense between the United
States of America and the federal government’s plot of a full-scale
takeover.
Bailey, a recent retiree and a proud advocate of gun rights, has been confirmed by multiple sources as being a true patriot, and is, at present, the only person capable of preventing top-secret forces within the government from striking and forcefully coercing hundreds of millions of Americans to submit to a fascist and brutal New World Order.
Since the early 1990s, sources estimated the gun owner has staved off innumerable large-scale government threats, all from the center of his 12-acre ranch.
“It is every American’s right to be good and armed, and that’s a right that should always be protected,” said Bailey, now the sole American protecting the nation from the government’s hidden plot of disarming all citizens, gradually gaining control of the mass media, and installing martial law throughout the nation’s streets. “Our Founding Fathers intended for each and every one of us to protect ourselves from tyranny. That’s what America is all about.”
“What happens when the feds show up at your front door and start telling you how much meat you can eat or how to raise your kids?”

Good News: Japanese researchers develop $1 goggles to thwart facial recognition technology
By Madison Ruppert: An associate professor at Japan’s National Institute of Informatics (NII) has developed new technology capable of thwarting the increasingly ubiquitous facial recognition systems and photo-tagging on social networking websites.
Given the rapidly increasing speed of facial recognition systems, the use of facial recognition technology in applications as disparate as mannequins in retail stores and border crossings around the world and drones and even televisions, this anti-facial recognition technology could be more needed now than ever.
Isao Echizen of NII along with Professor Seiichi Gohshi of Kogakuin University developed the technology – somewhat along the lines of the “drone-proof” clothing line – to protect individuals from having their privacy invaded by photographs taken by secret cameras or photographs taken unintentionally.
“Due of the popularization of portable terminals with built-in cameras and developments in SNS [Social Networking Services] and image search technologies, information such as when and where photographed subjects were is easily disclosed via photos taken and disclosed without their permission, which has resulted in a greater need to protect the privacy of these subjects,” states a press release from NII.
The technology developed by Echizen and Gohshi uses a near-infrared light source to disrupt the camera – and thus the photograph and facial recognition technology – without affecting the vision of the individual wearing the privacy visor.

David Cameron To Propose EU Referendum Tomorrow
Submitted by Tyler Durden: In a move that may cause some consternation in
Europe due to its adverse implications for trade paterns in the
continent, tomorrow British PM David Cameron will announce that he will
propose a referendum on whether or not to stay in the European Union, a
move that as the WSJ qualifies it
"threatens to inhibit trade and cast a new shadow over the troubled
bloc." That may be a slight exaggeration: the faux referendum would take
place, if at all, before the end of the first half of the next
Parliament, roughly by late 2017, after an election. Which means that if
Cameron loses the election, it is a non-issue, just as it would be a
non-issue of course if the UK public voted to stay:
