Breaking The Pendulum: Tradcons vs. Feminists
By Dean Esmay: The pendulum that is, and the pendulum that isn’t
The Modern Girl with the lipstick and the cocktail is as much a rebel against the Woman’s Rights Woman of the ’80′s, with her stiff stick-up collars and strict teetotalism, as the latter was a rebel against the Early Victorian lady of the languid waltz tunes and the album full of quotations from Byron; or as the last, again, was a rebel against a Puritan mother to whom the waltz was a wild orgy and Byron the Bolshevist of his age. Trace even the Puritan mother back through history and she represents a rebellion against the Cavalier laxity of the English Church, which was at first a rebel against the Catholic civilisation, which had been a rebel against the Pagan civilisation. Nobody but a lunatic could pretend that these things were a progress; for they obviously go first one way and then the other. But whichever is right, one thing is certainly wrong; and that is the modern habit of looking at them only from the modern end.In light of the “invention” of Feminism 2.0 by Tammy Bruce, which is clearly a callback to what we at AVfM sometimes call the “tradcon” (Traditionalist Conservative) mentality, I think it may be time to explain why many of us in the MHRM view “traditionalism” as being about as troubling as feminism.

Push In Sardinia For Online Vote On Independence From Italy
RT: The island of Sardinia plans to hold an online referendum on
independence from Italy, following in the footsteps of country’s
northeastern Veneto region, where a similar vote revealed high
separatist moods.
Over 2 million people in Veneto took part in the internet referendum on March 16-21, with 89 per cent of them voting in favor of cutting ties with Rome.
Despite the plebiscite having no legal power, it inspired the Sardinian Action Party (PSdAz) to organize an independence online vote in Sardinia, Nuova Sardegna website reports.
PSdAz advocates withdrawal from Italy and the cultivation of Sardinian traditions and values.
“We’ll just ask the Sardinians if they want independence,” said John Hills, the Sardinian Action Party’s national secretary. “Their opinion is important. We believe that this issue has become very relevant today and we want to clarify what exactly is the will of the people.”

Male Vilification Culture (Formerly: Rape Culture)
By Thomas Impelluso: This
essay is in response to current “Male Vilification Culture” sweeping
college campuses that aims to remove due process rights from men.
I am not trivializing the act of rape. Rather, I intend to discuss aspects of why men talk about it a certain way (through indifference, jokes, web postings, or other forms of mockery); and only sometimes, at that (for all facets of this issue are worth discussing – even separately). These modes of communication are, at times, immature but not necessarily evil. I expect maturity and intelligence on the part of the reader and the ability to avoid a suffocating black and white view of the world.
Feminists would like to lump everything from jokes, to a flirtation, to an unwanted kiss, to a slap on the ass, to a violent act all beneath one umbrella of rape culture. Let me be clear: I am talking about jokes, not actions; jokes from hormone riddled young men who have been bashed by the umbrella of a feminism that sees them as evil; jokes that are often a stunted and simplistic response to a male vilification culture that pervades our campuses. Jokes no different from the words of Hanna Rosin who said:
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
A person who sexually assaults another person for the sake of
gratification, anger, or any other reason should be prosecuted to the
fullest extent of the law. Rape is a violent act. Thankfully, rape
incidents have been decreasing every year. Commensurate with this,
however, is an increase in Male Vilification Culture.Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.

Global Astonishment As Lots Of People Shown To Know Something, Nobody Knows Everything And Politicians Know Next To Nothing
By John Ward: On and on it goes…
US data, it seems, helped stimulate the Asian bourses overnight. Stocks soared as
“US consumer confidence hit a six-year high and tensions over Ukraine
eased”. Do confident consumers know which way is up? Was there ever that
much real tension about Ukraine? I very much doubt it.
But these days, it’s important to be on the
ball ahead of the curve and perfectly positioned for that next wave.
It’s easy to spot me on the beaches of Europe these days: I’m the guy
balancing on a bright-orange sphere slightly ahead of the final curve as
the Big One heads in. Later, I’m the guy with a fractured skull and
four broken ribs, having been too busy watching the sea to notice the
jagged igneous rock for which I was headed.
Yes, it’s vital to be the first out of the
blocks, unless of course you’re Ed Balls, in which case fully six days
after a rabid Neolib Budget, you finally tweet this:
Israel Sabotaging So-Called Peace Talks: Abbas
Acting
Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas says Israel is sabotaging the
so-called peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis.
Orwellian UK BANNED Press TV: Abbas made the remarks in a speech at the 25th Arab League summit in Kuwait on Tuesday, saying Tel Aviv is not giving the talks a chance to reach an agreement, using every opportunity to sabotage the negotiations.
Abbas also said during the negotiations Tel Aviv has been adding new demands, including the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state and the continuation of its settlement expansion plans. He further noted that the Israeli regime is not willing to end its occupation of Palestinian territories.
“This proves that Israel isn’t serious in the negotiations about withdrawing from the occupied territories and achieving peace,” he said.
PA has also reiterated that the Palestinians will not recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

Facebook: Bringing People Together
By Michael Krieger: In case you missed it, Facebook just announced that it has bought virtual reality company Oculus for $2 billion.
These sorts of acquisitions are likely to continue as long as
Facebook’s stock remains overvalued. Personally, I think the Oculus team
should’ve held out for more, as Zuckerberg would’ve likely paid at
least $10 billion.
Now for the best picture I have seen mocking the Facebook deal (h/t @sharkybit for creating this gem).
Because Facebook users felt the experience was just a little too real as it stands.
