By August Løvenskiolds:A few moments ago, Ohio Governor John Kasich dropped his Presidential bid, making Donald Trump the lone survivor and presumptive winner of the Republican nomination. News and political commentators across the board are wondering: how will Trump now pivot and “appeal” – in other words, pander – to the women voters who supposedly hold him in low regard?
Women are 52% of voters, and so technically women control the outcome of all elections in ways that men do not: should women desire it, no man could ever win elective office. Men cannot control elections in the same way because men as a class are not the majority of voters. That’s right, feminists: your alleged “patriarchy” was created and maintained by the female electorate. Everything elected officials do is the responsibility of women as a class, not men. It is all YOUR fault, not men.
By Gilad Atzmon:In a bizarre effort to paper over the historical truth regarding Hitler and the Haavara Agreement, Professor Rainer Schulze of Essex University wrote an article totally lacking intellectual integrity. Schulze’s piece in the Independent, ‘Hitler and Zionism: Why the Haavara Agreement does not mean the Nazis were Zionists’, demonstrates that fear of Zionists and their extensive power extends beyond the Labour party. It is deeply entrenched within the British psyche and institutionally embedded in academia. Schulze article leads him to the conclusion that: “any claim that Nazis and Zionists ever shared a common goal is not only cynical and disingenuous, but a distortion of clearly established historical fact.” The German/British professor’s failure to apply elementary academic analytical skills to the issue results in faulty scholarship.
By Tim Patten: Society has decided that males are terrible communicators who are not in touch with their emotions. In fact, psychologists often maintain that emotions frighten men, and many don’t know what or how they are feeling.[i] The perception that males are emotionally “stunted” often leads females to be upset with them or to pressure them to be more open about what is on their mind. “He just won’t talk,” frustrated wives complain,[ii] while others take a more assertive tack— “Share yourself!” they say. If he doesn’t come around, it means there is something wrong with him.[iii] Experts point to the fact that little boys are discouraged from crying or opening up about their feelings as some sort of proof that men are toxic, emotionless and without passion. This theme is pervasive in the media and the arts, at colleges and in other educational settings, and in the discussions and interactions that punctuate daily life, but men have been wrongly stereotyped. The fact is that men and women both have feelings, but they exhibit and express them in different ways. Men are not dispassionate and unloving; they love deeply and enjoy the tingling textures of the world around them.
By Isra Saleh el-Namey:In spite of all he has been through, nothing hurts Yousif al-Shimbari more than getting used to mornings without hearing his mother’s voice.
During Israel’s assault on Gaza in 2014, the 14-year-old and his family sought refuge from their Beit Hanoun neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip to a UN-run school in the area, thinking themselves protected by its blue flags and logos. They were not. On 24 July, two weeks into the onslaught, Israeli shells slammed into the school, killing at least 15 and wounding scores. Among the fatalities were Yousif’s mother. Among the wounded, he and his sister. Manar, 15, underwent surgery. She had both legs amputated.

Torture is back in the news, with a recent poll suggesting that a large majority of Americans supporting the practice if it will prevent a terrorist attack. US Presidential candidates are ambiguous at best about the topic. Is US torture going to make a comeback just a few years after the nation recoiled in horror at revelations such as Abu Ghraib and the CIA's vast waterboarding program?
By Paul Craig Roberts: Greenpeace has done that part of the world whose representatives are so corrupt or so stupid as to sign on to the Trans-Pacific and Trans-Atlantic “partnerships” a great service. Greenpeace secured and leaked the secret TTIP documents that Washington and global corporations are pushing on Europe. The official documents prove that my description of these “partnerships” when they first appeared in the news is totally correct. These so-called “free trade agreements” are not trade agreements. The purpose of the “partnerships,” which were drafted by global corporations, is to make corporations immune to the laws of soverign countries in which they do business. Any country’s sovereign law whether social, environmental, food safety, labor protections - any law or regulation - that impacts a corporation’s profits is labeled a “restraint on trade.” The “partnerships” permit corporations to file a suit that overturns the law or regulation and also awards the corporation damages paid by the taxpayers of the country that tried to protect its environment or the safety of its food and workers.
