Submitted by Tyler Durden: Back in January, when the market was watching in shocked silence as oil prices were crashing to decade lows and as concerns emerged that Saudi Arabia may need to commence selling its vast, if unquantified, USD reserves, we wrote a post titled "Attention Finally Turns To Saudi Arabia's "Secret" US Treasury Holdings" where we noted something very surprising: whereas we do know that Saudi Arabia is the owner of the world's third largest USD reserves...

... their actual composition remains as a secret, because while the US discloses the explicit Treasury holdings of all other nations, Saudi Arabia's holdings, for some unknown reason, are not officially disclosed.

"It’s a secret of the vast U.S. Treasury market, a holdover from an age of oil shortages and mighty petrodollars," Bloomberg wrote of Saudi Arabia’s US Treasury holdings. 
"As a matter of policy, the Treasury has never disclosed the holdings of Saudi Arabia, long a key ally in the volatile Middle East, and instead groups it with 14 other mostly OPEC nations including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria,” Bloomberg goes on to note, adding that the rules are different for almost everyone else.

By Michael Krieger: We’ve seen bits and pieces emerge from Hillary Clinton’s infamous $225,000 speech to Goldman Sachs in October 2013, but an article published by the Huffington Post yesterday adds some additional perspective. In a nutshell, the author believes that a release of these transcripts would be so damaging it would end her bid for the presidency. 
Here are a few excerpts from the Huffington Post piece:
The reason you and I will never see the transcripts of Hillary Clinton’s speeches to Wall Street fat-cats — and the reason she’s established a nonsensical condition for their release, that being an agreement by members of another party, involved in a separate primary, to do the same — is that if she were ever to release those transcripts, it could end her candidacy for president.

However, to our astonishment, some opponents of If Americans Knew then tried to divert attention to me and IAK rather than keeping it on this woman and her colleague who traveled so far to tell us their story. Someone at Stanford SJP posted a fraudulent statement about the incident on their Facebook page, which we expect will be repeated far and wide by people bent on taking down If Americans Knew.
While the Nakba Tour statement already gives the basic facts, we are now augmenting this with a more detailed description of what transpired.

Dating In The Double-Bind

By jolierouge AVfM: The most potent form of female coercive power is by exploiting the essential biological drive of a man and placing him, often implicitly, into a double bind. He is compelled by both biology, and to some degree social conditioning, to seek validation and completion from women. Women then sit like a spider in the center of a web and wait for a man to approach. However women in general both implicitly and explicitly make any man who approaches an unknown woman out to be a harasser, or seducer (both negative stereotypes, and explicitly undesirable, but implicitly desirable in undefined contexts). Furthermore, any person who seeks must be in a negative power relation to the individual who is sought. To approach women, a man should “be himself” so long as “himself” is not any of the negative attributes that women recoil from. He can’t be needy, desperate, creepy, weird, too confident, too weak and so on.
A man is supposed to approach a woman, to get to know her, to ask her out, but she is never alone, or at least very rarely alone. She goes out with friends to protect her from the approach. If a man approaches her, he is likely to be required to not only seduce her but her friends. He is just as likely to be labeled a street harasser.

karen straughan: Regarding 'The Truth About the Regressive Left' David Pakman Show, I'm enjoying this so far, but I do have to call David out on his characterization of regressive behavior and shutting down debate as a "right wing tactic". It is an apolitical political tactic, if you will. It is nothing more than power attempting to preserve itself. It is the political underdog who will always promote liberal values such as freedom of speech, press and assembly, civil liberties, tolerance of unpopular or "offensive" opinions and free and open debate. In the 60s on US campuses (and prior), the underdog was the progressive left, and the establishment was deeply conservative--even "centrist" positions were conservative compared to what they are today.
