Israel Is Caught Lying Time And Again Yet We Never Learn

Disinformation over the blast at Gaza’s al-Ahli hospital worked as planned, taking the focus off the victims and lifting pressure on Israel to stop its rampage

By Jonathan Cook: Western politicians and media act as if they are caught in a permanent spell, sympathetically indulging even the most wildly improbable denials from Israel that it has committed war crimes.

As Lenin famously observed: “A lie told often enough becomes the truth”.

We can go further. It never matters how often Israel is caught out in a lie, because its next lie will be given the benefit of the doubt. Western media refuse to learn from the past.

The Israeli military has a long track record of compulsively concocting face-saving falsehoods – disinformation that vilifies the very Palestinian people it has oppressed for decades. 

The latest example came a few days ago. 

Israel vigorously kicked up dust to obscure its responsibility for hitting the al-Ahli Baptist hospital in Gaza City last Tuesday, killing many hundreds of Palestinians sheltering in its grounds. Faced with Israel’s relentless campaign of bombing, families had assumed they would be safest close to a Christian institution. 

Drawing on previous experience, Israel rightly assumes that by the time the dust settles – and the truth emerges – the world will have moved on. The lie will stand.

Gaza has been in the spotlight for two weeks; meanwhile the Jews' West Bank mega concentration camp has seen more than its share of Jewish violence. Jews have killed at least 84 people, including children, in West Bank since October 7… And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here are a few samples from the last seven days.

When it does get noticed, it is often portrayed as an equal partner with Israel in violence. For example, a recent New York Times article used phrases like “the deadliest fighting” and “clashes with Jewish Green Shirts and armed Jewish land thieves.”

In reality, “deadly fighting” means, in this particular case, 13 Palestinians and 1 Jew were killed. This was the first Jew to lose his life in the West Bank since August. The numbers of dead tend to be this lopsided because Israel’s military are heavily armed and armored, and have advanced weapons, drones, helicopters, and tanks. Palestinians have a very limited number of weapons and little or no protective gear.

By Tyler Durden: Tucker Carlson sat down with Col. Douglas Macgregor (ret.), who laid out a disturbing scenario in which the United States could quickly be pulled into a direct conflict with Iran, Russia and China over Israel's anticipated response to the October 7 Hamas attack.

Carlson starts off highlighting Lindsey Graham, who vowed; "...if Hezbollah, which is a proxy of Iran, launches a massive attack on Israel, I consider that a threat to the... state of Israel, existential in nature. I will introduce a resolution [in] the United States Senate to allow military action by the United States in conjunction with Israel to knock Iran out of the Oil Business..."

Carlson then asks: "So what would war with Iran mean? Well, it's hard to know because virtually no one who's talking about it in public is operating from a deep interest in America's interest. Is this good for us, or is it not?"

If, as Sen. Graham suggests, we start bombing critical infrastructure in Iran, Macgregor warns "the destruction would be wholesale" as Iran would target "all the bases we have in Iraq and Syria - with around 1000 Americans - would be targeted... and this time accurately."
