Global Paradox Of Risk
So Who Are 'The Syrian Moderates' Anyway? (Hint: Al CIAda)
By Michael Krieger: You don’t need me to tell you how disastrous the Obama Administration’s Syria “strategy” has been. After all, he pretty much admitted as much by announcing a pullback earlier today.
While the retreat in itself is garnering all the headlines, with people superficially focused on how “Putin outmaneuvered Obama,” the truth is far more disturbing. Putin didn’t so much outmaneuver Obama, as much as he called bullshit on the entire operation. Putin basically said that Russia would begin bombing terrorists in Syria, but the problem is that the U.S. is supporting terrorists in Syria. This is undoubtably true, which is the real reason Obama is pulling back. He needs to get out now before Putin proves to the whole world that the CIA is fighting with al-Qaeda in Syria.
For a dose of hard-hitting truth, I once again turn to one of the best sources out there, investigative journalist Nafeez Ahmed.
Here is some of what he published at Middle East Eye:
The first Russian airstrikes hit the rebel-held town of Talbisah north of Homs City, home to al-Qaeda’s official Syrian arm, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the pro-al-Qaeda Ahrar al-Sham, among other local rebel groups. Both al-Nusra and the Islamic State have claimed responsibility for vehicle-borne IEDs (VBIEDs) in Homs City, which is 12 kilometers south of Talbisah.

Dave’s Email To Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep was recently wittering on about how few women run film
studios, major organizations, etc.
Subject: More Inclusion of Women Comment
Dear Ms Streep,
Dear Ms Streep,
I noticed that you consider that there should be “more inclusion”
for women in organisations. On the face of it there is nothing stopping
women getting into any areas of business, commerce or academia however
one of the areas not talked about is why women themselves do not put
their own capital at risk, like many male entrepreneurs do, and build
their own businesses and/or organisations.
Women want to join all the successful organisations built by men
but rarely do they put their money where their mouths are and do it
themselves.

London MRAs Protest Against Suffragettes Propaganda Film
By Mike Buchanan: There’s a group of courageous London MRAs I admire, who do such things as speak at Speaker’s Corner. At a recent meeting of MRAs in Oxford they committed to demonstrating outside the premiere of the new propaganda film about the Suffragettes, by presenting themselves as injured soldiers of WW1. An account of their actions is here, along with some remarkable photographs.
With the lame-stream media giving little or no exposure to men’s issues and anti-feminist arguments, it’s time we saw a lot more street campaigning. It’s time for a large number of people to be prepared to get away from their keyboards and engage face-to-face with members of the public.

Victim Blaming: The Whine Of The Tinkerbell Feminist
By August Løvenskiolds: The next time you hear a feminist woman complain that efforts to teach women to protect themselves from rape are “victim blaming,” feel free to yell at her “oh, sorry, Tinkerbell, but it is time for you go grow up and take responsibility for your own safety.”
“Victim blaming,” unbelievably, is the charge feminists level at anyone – even one of their own, like Susan Brownmiller, who suggests that women should take reasonable, effective precautions to protect themselves from sexual predators.
When the potential victims of rape deliberately eschew taking even the simplest of safety precautions – not getting blindly drunk, preferring the wearing of clothes to nakedness, avoiding known dangerous areas, going out with friends instead of alone, and so on, it is natural to wonder what is going on in their minds that is compromising their judgment, including asking ourselves, are they adult enough mentally to be making adult decisions at all?
Adults take precautions against danger and look out for others too immature to understand the danger. Adults bucket children into car safety seats and teach kids to use seatbelts when they outgrow safety seats. Risk management is a marker of adulthood – one cannot protect against all mishaps but one can take reasonable steps to reduce risk.

Ranking The Peasants - China Introduces Orwellian “Citizen Scores”
By Michael Krieger: The following is extraordinarily creepy and disturbing. It’s also extremely clever, from a jackbooted, fascist thug perspective. When massive censorship itself isn’t enough…
TechDirt reports:
TechDirt reports:
China’s plan to control the hearts, minds and internet connections of its citizens continues unimpeded. That’s the great thing about authoritarian regimes: rollout of mandatory programs is usually only a problem of logistics, not opposition.
The Chinese government has mandated a rating system for all of its connected citizens. It looks like a credit rating but goes much deeper than just tying a measurement of financial risk to a number. It’s a way of defining who someone in terms of the government’s desires and aims. And its desires aren’t all that honorable.
