The Left Are Angry At MP Philip Davies For Saying What We Are All Thinking

By Elena Rider: The recent furore over MP Philip Davies was caused by comments he made in the introduction of a speech that presented a wealth of evidence that the criminal justice system treats women more leniently than men. He argued that feminists want to have their cake and eat it because they want ‘equality’ with men only when it suits them. How did feminists respond? By presenting logical and reasoned arguments about why he is wrong? Nope.
They created a hashtag and took pictures of themselves stuffing their faces full of cake.
Here are some highlights:

Deaths By Suicide And From Natural Causes In Prisons In England And Wales

By Mike Buchanan: I’m carrying out research for my forthcoming written submission to the Health Select Committee inquiry on suicide, and currently looking at suicides related to the criminal justice system, including the suicides of men falsely accused of sexual offences, the suicides of men in prison, and other issues.
I tracked down an interesting article in The Guardian from April 2016, Murders and suicides in prisons in England and Wales hit 25-year high. The article reported that in the year to March 2016, 100 ‘people’ in prison had committed suicide, and six were murdered. However, there was no gender breakdown for these numbers, and I suspected this was a reflection of the relentlessly anti-male bias of the paper.
So I tracked down the source of the data – a publication issued by the Ministry of Justice in March 2016, Safety in Custody Statistics, England and Wales. It’s an interesting read. In Table 1 (p.6) we find gender breakdowns for ‘self-harm incidents’ and ‘assault incidents’ but no gender breakdowns for suicide, or deaths by natural causes, or homicide. I cannot conceive of a legitimate reason why these gender breakdowns would not be reported. It is clearly designed to hide the disproportionate extent to which men are ending their lives in prisons.

Canadian Man Awarded Daughter’s Full Guardianship

By : Jakob Letkemann faced the biggest challenge of his–or maybe anyone’s–life: The battle for custody of his three-year-old daughter, Darian. He struggled through exhausting and heartrending court battles, during which time the 40-year old resident of Salt Spring Island, located off the west coast of British Columbia, found himself on an emotional roller-coaster ride, falsely accused of various abuses as he sought to prevail against a system biased against fathers.
But none of this mattered after the verdict came in. Jakob fell to his knees, victorious when the female judge announced he was granting his request for custody of Darian. Initially unaware of just how stacked the deck was against dads in such situations, as well as the fact that they were notorious for bringing out the worst in others, his eyes welled up. He was grateful it was over and happy he had overcome the feelings of betrayal and rage that had enveloped him amid false allegations by his ex-girlfriend and her relatives. His heart was bursting as he savored the moment.
In Canada, it is uncommon for courts to find in favor of fathers. In fact, statistics indicate that mothers are awarded custody more than three times as often as men. For the most part, this appears to reflect an institutional bias against men, though there are those who would argue otherwise. Regardless, while Jakob comes from a family of women’s right’s supporters, his eyes have been opened up to a new reality.

Women Have Won The Fight For Equality. Now They Should Use Their Power To Help The Boys

When Theresa May went to visit Nicola Sturgeon in Edinburgh, they posed for a photograph on the steps of Bute House, the official residence of Scotland’s First Minister. It was one for Mrs Stugeon’s album and she published it on her Twitter account a few hours later.
Politics aside, she said, this picture – of two women running their respective governments – should show girls everywhere that no ambition should be off-limits for them. Her comment was gracious, warm-hearted – and about 25 years out of date.
There’s nothing wrong with young, female ambition in Scotland. Scottish girls are now 43 per cent more likely to be accepted to universities than boys, a figure that would have caused panic if things were the other way around.
When Ms Sturgeon and I were at Glasgow University (having been inspired in different ways by another female Prime Minister) it was the golden age of campus gender equality. But it didn’t last long. Boys have been falling behind ever since and now, Scottish universities have one of the worst gender imbalances in Europe. Yet no one, it seems, really cares.
As so often, Scotland serves an early warning for England. Years of being indifferent to the problem facing young men has led the same problem.

To Frack Or Not To Frack?

Max and Stacy ask why only ⅓ of the British population supports fracking despite big cash payments allegedly on offer from the government. In the second half, they talk to fracking advocate, Nick Grealy of London Local Energy about his belief that natural gas, even of the fracked variety, is a more environmentally friendly source of energy than most others - despite the arguments (he says are false) that fracking pollutes groundwater and causes earthquakes.

Mike Buchanan Interviewed On LBC Radio

On Friday evening, a few hours after the piece on Philip Davies’s conference speech in The Guardian which led to a great deal of mainstream coverage, Tom Swarbrick of LBC Radio devoted the final hour of his show to the matter. Firstly he interviewed Philip at length, then a particularly gormless feminist for thankfully only a short time, then myself (9:07), then there was a 30-minute phone-in.
