Submitted by Tyler Durden: Curious why despite the huge miss in payrolls
the unemployment rate tumbled from 7.0% to 6.7%? The reason is because
in December the civilian labor force did what it usually does in the New
Normal: it dropped from 155.3 million to 154.9 million, which means the
labor participation rate just dropped to a fresh 35 year low, hitting
levels not seen since 1978, at 62.8% down from 63.0%.
And the piece de resistance: Americans not in the labor force exploded higher by 535,000 to a new all time high 91.8 million.
By John Hembling (JtO): I fear Carina Kolodny’s children, and so should you.
Why, you may wonder, should you fear them, and for that matter, who on Earth is Carina Kolodny?
According to her byline at the Huffington Post,
she’s a writer, media activist, and sex educator. Apparently, she also
holds a Masters in Social Media & Social Change. In other words,
she’s a professional Social Justice Warrior (SJW). For some readers,
that may seem like a positive appellation.
For clarity this is an individual who repeatedly engages in arguments
on “social justice,” often in a shallow or poorly reasoned way, for the
purpose of raising their own personal reputation. A Social Justice
Warrior, or SJW, does not necessarily believe anything they say, or even
care about the groups they are fighting “on behalf of.” The term also
connotes an established tendency to advance arguments based solely on
the immediate utility of moral one-upmanship, and completely unattached
to reality, truth, or any core moral principals such as non-initiation
of violence.
But returning to Kolodny’s children, and why fear is an appropriate
response to them: they’re rapists and violent criminals. Does that sound
hyperbolic? It’s worse than you think. Kolodny’s children, those
children, teenagers, and in time, the adults they will become are not
simply her actual offspring. In fact, Carina Kolodny doesn’t have
children. Rather, they are all the children and teenagers raised to
believe in the same popularized narrative Kolodny perpetuates in her
writing, media activism, and sex education.

has got to be the hardest thing I’ve ever written, but here goes. There
are four subjects on which I’m more than happy to be conversant, and in
discussions of which I feel adequate to participate: classical music,
Monty Python, gay sex, and Mormonism. Now all I need to do is find a way
to turn that into a small business.
In the meantime, I see in this recent article
a man who is still a believer in Mormonism who is trying to get it to
fit within the men’s movement tent. Not being in charge of the tent and
not wanting to be, I can’t make the final call. What I can do instead is
voice as strong an opposition as I can for what is discussed (or
rather, what is not discussed) in that article, while still
having close family that believes in Mormonism. I no longer believe. In
fact, I disbelieve in a big, big way. I normally keep how I feel about
the church to myself, in order to preserve harmony and generally stay
out of other people’s way. What I have to say has been written,
rewritten, and re-rewritten to make certain that I make myself as clear
as possible, because it is possible that I will suffer a great many
negative consequences in my personal life.

Stefan Molyneux: Is poverty a choice? How do the rich and powerful keep the poor down? How do we help the poor? What is the truth about poverty?
In good economic times or bad, the typical poor family with children
is supported by only 800 hours of work during a year: That amounts to
16 hours of work per week. If work in each family were raised to 2,000
hours per year-the equivalent of one adult working 40 hours per week
throughout the year- nearly 75 percent of poor children would be lifted
out of official poverty.
Father absence is another major cause of
child poverty. Nearly two-thirds of poor children reside in
single-parent homes; each year, an additional 1.5 million children are
born out of wedlock. If poor mothers married the fathers of their
children, almost three-quarters would immediately be lifted out of
poverty.

geeks won’t be able to say that I didn’t warn them. Their friendly and
quite frankly remarkable open source community is about take a very
serious turn into turmoil, thanks to feminist ideologues.
We have already seen this happen in the atheist/skeptic movement with the likes of Rebecca Watson, PZ Myers, et al, and with the gaming community’s interloper-in-chief, Anita Sarkeesian. Other components of the tech industry have been similarly targeted. Think Adria Richards of Donglegate fame.
The feminists are coming in to co-opt and to dominate. And the result
will undoubtedly be the same. There will be disharmony, warring factions
and the resultant stagnation of purpose that comes with it.
They are even approaching this with the same M.O.. First, set up the
victim narrative; create a crisis for women that literally does not
exist. This is done by a small number of very vocal ideological women
who claim to be victims, and who need “special” enforcement of even more
“special” rules, in order to make them feel safe and welcome (because
we all know that women are not welcome anywhere, especially by men,
right?). Then, of course, the idea is to punish anyone who disagrees
with them with demonization and ostracizing.
The white knights in any given community, seeking female approval and
an ego boost, will ride in and do the heavy lifting for them, demanding
that the community in question bend to their demands for the sake of
decency and everything holy.

By Paul Elam: Tomorrow the new documentary Divorce Corp,
an exposé on the United States’ family court system, will debut in
theaters nationwide. Directed by filmmaker Joe Sorge, the movie has
already been drawing heat and threats of boycott from groups clinging to
the advantageous (for some) corruption in family courts.
After viewing the film myself, I can understand why anyone accustomed to an unfair advantage might be angry.
The bomb has finally been dropped and the truth has exploded all over
an industry whose corruption and raw evil have not been matched since
Jim Crow. Divorce Corp is a long awaited oracle of truth about an
area of American life where mendacity and turpitude have been
legislated, institutionalized and turned shamelessly into profit at the
expense of families and children.

Steve Doughty: One in three separated mothers think
their children’s fathers should have no say in their upbringing,
according to a report yesterday.
It
found that 32 per cent of separated mothers thought that they alone had
the right to make decisions about their children’s future.
The
high proportion found by a survey implies that more than one in 10 of
all the families in the country include mothers who do not want the
fathers of their children to have a say over the future of their
children.
The findings were revealed in a survey carried out for the counselling group Relate.
It
comes at a time of deepening concern among judges and education experts
over the absence of fathers from the lives of millions of youngsters.
