And now the whole world knows that the US intelligence community treated Germany, along with the European Union, France, and other countries, like Cold-War opponents.
Even French President François Hollande tried to slam his fist on the table when he said too softly into the uproar ensuing to his right and left, “we demand that this stop immediately.”

The reason this former Goldman Sachs guy (yes, another one) heading up a central bank will give - is the same reason Ben Bernanke gives - and the Bank of Japan, etc. He’ll say the bank needs to fight ‘deflation.’ And he will also fail to admit that central bank purchasing of government bonds doesn’t fight deflation, it causes deflation.

Bond purchases by central banks to cheapen rates makes funding additional bond issuance by corporations, banks and governments cheap. Look, the UK’s debt continues to climb; so too in America, Japan and Europe. Quantitative Easing (QE) programs have coincided with governments and banks increasing their debt loads to record amounts and debts of course have to be ‘serviced.’ That is to say, the interest payments that are due every quarter have to be paid, on an ever increasing debt pile; and the way this mounting interest cost, (now approaching 25% of government expenses in the aforementioned economies), is paid is to float more debt: made possible by the cheap interest rates guaranteed by the actions of the central banks and their Quantitative Easing programs.

By Ron Paul: From massive NSA spying, to IRS targeting of the administration's political opponents, to collection and sharing of our health care information as part of Obamacare, it seems every day we learn of another assault on our privacy. Sadly, this week the Senate took another significant, if little-noticed, step toward creating an authoritarian surveillance state. Buried in the immigration bill is a national identification system called mandatory E-Verify.
The Senate did not spend much time discussing E-Verify, and what little discussion took place was mostly bipartisan praise for its effectiveness as a tool for preventing illegal immigrants from obtaining employment. It is a tragedy that mandatory E-Verify is not receiving more attention, as it will impact nearly every American’s privacy and liberty.
The mandatory E-Verify system requires Americans to carry a “tamper-proof” social security card. Before they can legally begin a job, American citizens will have to show the card to their prospective employer, who will then have to verify their identity and eligibility to hold a job in the US by running the information through the newly-created federal E-Verify database.

Sadly, this right, laid out and voted for by the U.S. in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is now being rejected by the current government of my country. The Obama administration has now adopted the strategy of using citizenship as a weapon.
