How The Deep State Turns Every US President To Interventionism
Authored by Philip Giraldi: In the wake of last week’s cruise missile attack on Syria, there was a joke going around the internet saying that it doesn’t matter who Americans vote for, they always wind up getting John McCain as President of the United States.
The humor derives from the fact that the past three presidents all ran for office committed to reducing America’s interventionism overseas but once in office they reversed course and expanded US military commitments worldwide, turning them into facsimiles of John McCain, who has never seen a war he didn’t like.
President Donald Trump’s explicit pledges to avoid expanded engagement in Asia and the Middle East while also fixing the relationship with Russia are by now lost down the memory hole as he has increased troop levels in Afghanistan while, by his own admission, the relationship with Moscow is now even worse than it was during the Cold War. And regarding Syria, his Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Halley has confirmed that the US military will not be going anywhere because certain goals have to be met first. One objective, monitoring developments relating to Iran, is open-ended, implying that it will be impossible to leave for the foreseeable future and suggesting that another Afghanistan-style quagmire is in the making.

Tilting Laws To Advance The Feminist Agenda
By Bettina Arndt: The icy grip of feminism on our key institutions has been exposed in a series of alarming stories emerging over the last month. Last week the Daily Telegraph announced UTS in Sydney has introduced special committees to judge other students accused of sexual assault or harassment. These extra-judicial panels comprising students and some staff members will examine evidence, conduct interrogations and recommend punishments – expulsion from the university or withholding of degrees. The university has caved in to feminist demands and is foolishly blundering into legal territory potentially undermining proper process in what could be serious criminal matters.
For the past eight months I’ve been supporting a young PhD student at Adelaide university who was pursued by a similar committee following an accusation of sexual assault from another student. The Adelaide committee didn’t include students but rather ‘student affairs officers’ who handled proceedings in a totally unprofessional manner. The result was a Kafkaesque nightmare with the committee trying to persuade the student to attend meetings, despite giving no detail of the actual accusations. I found a criminal barrister to advise the student on how to handle their ham-fisted efforts to force him to comply – scary times indeed for the young man because the committee had the power to recommend his PhD be withheld.

Feminists Are Useful Idiots
Germany's Largest Public TV News Broadcaster: Syria Chemical Attack "Most Likely Staged"
By Tyler Durden: A senior correspondent for German state media broadcast ZDF heute stunned his European audience during a report from on the ground in Syria when he gave a straightforward and honest account of his findings while investigating what happened in Douma. The veteran reporter, Uli Gack, interviewed multiple eyewitnesses of the April 7 alleged chemical attack and concluded of the testimonials, "the Douma chemical attack is most likely staged, a great many people here seem very convinced."
It appears that all local Syrians encountered by the German public broadcast reporter were immediately dismissive of the widespread allegation that the Syrian government gassed civilians, which the US, UK, France, and Israel used a pretext for launching missile strikes on Damascus.
ZDF heute: The world continues to puzzle over whether the banned chemical weapons were used in Douma. ZDF correspondent Uli Gack is in Syria for us: "you were in a large refugee camp today and talked to a lot of people - what did you hear about the attack there?" Gack responded, "the Douma chemical attack is most likely staged, a great many people here seem very convinced."
The German ZDF report is consistent with veteran British journalist Robert Fisk's investigation upon being the first Western journalist to gain access to the site in Douma.

William Collins On Emily Davison
By Mike Buchanan: Many followers of this blog will be familiar with some details of the story of Emily Davison,
the Suffragette “heroine” who died from her injuries after walking into
the path of the King’s horse, Anmer, during the 1913 Epsom Derby.
Five years ago The Guardian admitted her death was not the result of suicide – here. There was one possibly linked suicide, that of Herbert Jones, the jockey on the King’s horse, who suffered concussion, and was full of remorse over Davison’s death – despite not being personally responsible.
38 years later after the incident, in a bout of depression following his wife’s death, he committed suicide by putting his head in a gas oven. The Guardian article doesn’t mention his wife’s death, and relegates the suicide to the final two sentences of the article. Such is the value of a good man’s life to the female journalist who penned the piece.
I cannot find a reference to Herbert Jones’s suicide on Emily Davison’s Wikipedia page, the first link in this blog piece. Hardly surprising, given that feminists crawl over all Wikipedia entries concerned with gender politics.
I asked William Collins [right] if he knew more about Emily Davison than is popularly understood, and I thank him for his permission to publish his response:

Whatever Emily Davidson’s intentions that day, she was culpable for recklessly endangering the horses’ and the riders’ lives. The King’s horse, Anmar, somersaulted and landed on top of poor Herbert Jones, causing him concussion and a dislocated shoulder.
Portman And Corbyn
By Gilad Atzmon: Last Thursday, The Genesis Prize announced it was cancelling its so-called “Jewish Nobel” prize ceremony in Israel in June because its 2018 recipient, Natalie Portman, said she would not take part in light of “recent events.”
The Jewish foundation said that Portman’s representative notified it that “recent events in Israel have been extremely distressing to her and she does not feel comfortable participating in any public events in Israel” and that “she cannot in good conscience move forward with the ceremony.”
According to the Forward Portman didn’t reject the prize itself, but said she could not “in good conscience” share a stage with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
So again, the Israelis are upset. Gilad Erdan, Minister of Public Security, Strategic Affairs and Minister of Information wrote to Portman to tell her that she had been hoodwinked by Hamas propaganda and invited the Jerusalem-born Hollywood star to come and see the truth.
“It is not surprising that you have seen the media reports which have distorted the truth and portrayed the recent riots on the Israel-Gaza border as peaceful demonstrations, and Israel’s response as disproportionate. It is in fact precisely this narrative which Hamas hoped to portray when it organised the riots. Unfortunately it appears that this Hamas-designed narrative has impacted your decision.”
