By Mumia Ali: During the recent conversation taking place over the popular teledrama “Scandal” one of my regular reader/commenters -Hollenhund – alerted me to the fact that apparently, there was a fierce discussion taking place over at the blog Hooking Up Smart about a rash of Black American Men heading off to Brazil for the express purpose of availing themselves of the local ladies, as an alternative to what’s on offer back home. Using the link Hollenhund provided, I hopped over to HUS, read what was being said, and then checked out the YouTube link provided, which leads you to an under one hour-long documentary called “Frustrated: Black American Men In Brazil.” I had intended to take up the matter but forgot all about it in the the crush of my daily activities – until I saw the following link in my Twitter feed by one Ms. Demetria Lucas, the self-proclaimed “Belle in Brooklyn.” Ms. Lucas has saw it fit to weigh in on the whole “Frustrated” kerfuffle at The Root, and it was her dipping her toe into these controversial waters, that reignited my interested in the matter – largely because of the twisted and disingenuous manner in which she chose to cover the issue. Grab coffee, this is gonna be good.
First, let’s begin with the fact that Ms. Lucas gets off on the wrong foot, by suggesting that the film “Frustrated” just dropped out of the sky – assisted by World Star Hip Hop – made by a bunch of Brotha Losers crying into their beer and wanting to throw the American Sistahood under the proverbial bus.

The above words were uttered by then-nominee for the US Supreme Court, one Mr. Clarence Thomas, nearly a quarter of a century ago. It was said in the midst of what some, and this writer is in agreement with the notion, of what could only be rightly described as a wanton witch hunt. Thomas, accused by a former staffer, Ms. (now Prof.) Anita Hill of “sexual harassment”, had his name and reputation sullied in the worst of ways. Though he was eventually confirmed to the nation’s High Court, his life would never be the same.

Obama Declares War On ‘Extremism’ - Are You An ‘Extremist’ According To His Definition?

By Michael Snyder: Do you know what an “extremist” is?  In the wake of the horrible terror attacks on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in France, Barack Obama is speaking very boldly about the need to win the war against “extremists”, and he has announced plans to host a major global summit on “extremism” next month.  And on the surface that sounds great.  But precisely how are we supposed to determine whether someone is an “extremist” or not?  What criteria should we use?  As you will see below, your definition of an “extremist” may be far, far different from the definition that Barack Obama is using.  When you do a Google search, you will find that an “extremist” is defined as “a person who holds extreme or fanatical political or religious views, especially one who resorts to or advocates extreme action.”  According to Wikipedia, “extremism” is “an ideology (particularly in politics or religion), considered to be far outside the mainstream attitudes of a society or to violate common moral standards.  Extremism can take many forms, including political, religious and economic.”  Please notice that neither of those definitions uses the word violence.  In this day and age, you can be considered an “extremist” simply based on what you believe, and as you will see later in this article there are now tens of millions of Americans that are considered to be “extremists” and “potential terrorists” according to official U.S. government documents.
