By Michael Krieger: When Lee Goldsmith drives by one of the many fake cellphone towers
being discovered throughout the U.S., his $3,500 CryptoPhone 500 will
immediately display the warning message in the thumbnail image to the Right.
When you drive by the same fake towers, known as “interceptors,” your
run of the mill iPhone or Samsung Galaxy won’t alert you to any
potential security breach. And that’s exactly how those people who
installed these interceptors, whoever they are, like it.
I’ve seen headlines about these fake cell towers over the past
several days, but didn’t investigate the matter until today. It appears
Popular Science broke the story in late August with the piece: Mysterious Phony Cell Towers Could Be Intercepting Your Calls.
The article focuses on the revelations of Lee Goldsmith, CEO of ESD
America, which makes ultra-expensive and ultra-secure cellphones
(another player in this market is Silent Circle with its Blackphone)
. What Lee Goldsmith and other users of the CryptoPhone 500 have
discovered while driving across part of America will shock and disturb
you.
Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert discuss the impending second wave of the lastest mortgage crisis, this time due to Helocs (Home equity lines of credit) and HAMP (Home Affordable Modification Program) interest rate resets.
Submitted by Tyler Durden: While NATO is contemplating its existential purpose in a world where the Cold War has suddenly come back with a vengeance, and the military alliance has found itself woefully unprepared to deal with a Russia which no longer accepts the supremacy of the west (appropriately enough NATO is doing this on a golf course) Russia is also strategizing, only instead of issuing "sharply-worded catchphrases" and hashtags, a Russian general has called for Russia to revamp its military doctrine, last updated in 2010, to clearly identify the U.S. and its NATO allies as Moscow's enemy number one. That in itself is not disturbing: we reported as much yesterday and is merely more rhetorical posturing. Where things, however, get very problematic is that the general demands that Russia spell out the conditions under which the country would launch a preemptive nuclear strike against the 28-member military alliance.
Moscow Times reports that Russia's military doctrine, a strategy document through which the government interprets military threats and crafts possible responses, is being revised in light of threats connected to the Arab Spring, the Syrian civil war and the conflict in Ukraine, the deputy chief of the Kremlin's security council told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
Sargon of Akkad: The feminist propaganda is busy ret-conning history to claim that 50% of Viking armies were made up of women. Sounds plausible. Or not.
By Mike Buchanan: The New Statesman “journalist” Laurie Penny is on an email circulation list we use occasionally to communicate to large numbers of people, and yesterday we sent a note out to people on that list about our presentation to Dave the Feminist (aka David Cameron, the United Kingdom’s hapless prime minister) of his third consecutive “Toady of the Year” award. Among the ‘auto reply’ emails we received was one from Ms Penny. It read:
Thanks for your email! (Rather upbeat for Ms P, I felt.)
From September 2014 until May 2015, I’ll be on sabbatical, taking up a fellowship with the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University. I’ll be checking this email less frequently, and won’t be available for most of my usual work engagements in that time. Thanks for understanding! Meanwhile, here’s how to get to me if it’s urgent and work-related:
(Names and email addresses of three people – all are women – what are the chances?)
If it’s work-related and not urgent, get back in touch around April.
Harvard University is, of course, the institution whose president, Larry Summers, was hounded out of office after making some perfectly reasonable remarks (in a lunchtime talk in January 2005) about men outnumbering women in high-end science and engineering positions, and suggesting some explanations for that reality (and “remedies’” it’s often forgotten). Following a radical feminist backlash, he resigned his position 13 months later.
By Dr. David Ley: “Trauma-informed
care” is the current therapeutic buzzword these days. Developing
research suggests that a history of trauma and neglect can lead to
emotional and psychological difficulties which may be mistaken for other
problems such as bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other psychological
disorders. Informed therapists should be better able to identify these
subtle symptoms, and diagnose and treat more effectively and accurately.
Increased social attention to these subtle effects of trauma
inevitably leads to more identification of trauma (a good thing), and to
greater social attention to the issues of trauma and victimization (a
mixed thing). For many years, victims have been bullied, shamed and
blamed, which worsens the effects of their experience. Unfortunately, in
a swing to the opposite side, victimhood has now become a protected
class in our society, a trend fed by well-intended, but potentially
harmful, therapists, activists and daytime talk shows.
The media is inundated with “Victim Hoaxes,” where there is a great
flutter over someone being wronged and victimized. Waitresses are
slandered over their sexuality, teenagers harassed, scarred children
turned away from restaurants. Society gets all atwitter over these
events, standing up for the wronged party. The alleged victim often
receives financial support and other secondary gain as a result of the
nationwide uproar. Unfortunately, further attention to these events
reveals that some details of the story don’t hold up to scrutiny.
Physicians and human rights activists say evidence shows the apartheid Israel regime used internationally banned weapons against civilians and actively targeted little children during its recent genocidal offensive against the Gaza Strip.
UK BANNED Press TV: According to international experts and physicians present during the most recent Israeli onslaught on Gaza, Tel Aviv once again used Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME), which are usually carried by US-made Hellfire rockets, against Gaza’s heavily-populated residential areas.
Injuries caused by DIME bombs, also used during Israel’s 2009 offensive, are distinguishable from injuries caused by other weapons.
“Most of the weapons that were used to kill hundreds of civilians in Gaza contained depleted uranium. They also used new weapons that even international experts were unable to figure out their types,”
Mike Maloney: Recently, Mike mentioned to me that he was going to read a section from his favorite book of all time - Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged'. Whoa. This was obviously not going to be a normal company meeting. Having just started to scrape the surface of explaining the dangers of socialism in Episode 5 of Hidden Secrets Of Money, it was obvious that this reading would make for an excellent video. It's also very timely when you consider the current events in Crimea, where Ayn Rand lived as a young girl. Yet another example of history echoing through the ages.
So, as that guy said in 'American Pie', God bless the internet. Here it is for you to watch at your leisure, grab yourself a chair and get comfy.
DoctorRandomercam: Listen to the man when he says nurse a drink. Pop a pill, smoke a peace pipe. Do SOMETHING. If you watch this sober and pay attention, you will eventually eat the nearest object in a fit of rage. I did my best to contain it for you, but god damn. God fucking damn. These people are everywhere. You realise that? There are more of them than there are people who are in the least bit fucking sane.
Submitted by Tyler Durden: "The stock market is at an all-time, but economic activity is not at an all-time," explains billionaire investor Sam Zell to CNBC this morning, adding that, "every company that's missed has missed on the revenue side, which is a reflection that there's a demand issue; and when you got a demand issue it's hard to imagine the stock market at an all-time high." Zell said he is being very cautious adding to stocks and cutting some positions because "I don't remember any time in my career where there have been as many wildcards floating out there that have the potential to be very significant and alter people's thinking." Zell also discussed his view on Obama's Fed encouraging disparity and on tax inversions, but concludes, rather ominously, "this is the first time I ever remember where having cash isn't such a terrible thing." Zell's calls should not be shocking following George Soros. Stan Druckenmiller, and Carl Icahn's warnings that there is trouble ahead.
Billionaire 1: Sam Zell
On Stocks and reality...
"People have no place else to put their money, and the stock market is getting more than its share. It's very likely that something has to give here."
