US Church Votes To Divest From Companies Helping Illegal Apartheid Israeli Land Theft

A major church in the United States has voted to divest from three US corporations linked to the apartheid Israeli occupation of Palestinians’ land.

Orwellian UK BANNED Press TV: The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) voted this week in Detroit to sell its shares of Caterpillar, Motorola Solutions, and Hewlett Packard, worth about $21 million.
The church says that the companies supply equipment and materials which, among other things, are used to demolish Palestinians’ homes and construct illegal settlements.
Caterpillar provides heavy equipment that Israel used to destroy Palestinians’ homes and build roads for illegal settlements as Motorola Solutions and Hewlett Packard provide high-technology products and services that Israeli security forces used.
“We’ve tried to change the products and processes of these corporations in which we are invested and which are causing human hurt,” said Elizabeth Terry Dunning, chairwoman of the church’s Mission Responsibility Through Investment. However, she said, the corporations haven’t changed and “in some cases deepened their involvement.”

• Saudi Arabia which wants to remain friendly with the US but is antagonistic to the Iraq regime, is potentially aiding the ISIS forces, and clearly refuses to allow Iran entrance in Iraq
• Iran, which has suddenly become America's best friend in the region, which is willing to enter Iraq and protect its holy sites

UNESCO Lists Palestinian Village As Heritage Site To Block Apartheid Israeli Land Thieves.

The UN has decided to put a Palestinian village in the West Bank on its list of world heritage sites, potentially blocking Israel from building parts of its apartheid wall through the area.

Orwellian UK BANNED Press TV: After a Friday emergency meeting in the Qatari capital, Doha, the United Nations Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) said the agricultural community of Battir village will enjoy a protected status.
UNESCO said the village was recognized urgently in view of “construction of a separation wall that may isolate farmers from fields they have cultivated for centuries.”
The decision will also bolster the Palestinians’ case in a high-profile court battle against the Israeli regime, attempting to force Tel Aviv to change the route of the apartheid wall.
The Palestinian ambassador to UNESCO, Rula Ma’ayah, has described the decision as courageous.
Ma’ayah said the move would be “etched in the memory of my people.”

Personal Responsibility

Well, his uncle was, anyway. The maxim “With great power comes great responsibility” isn’t exactly correct. Rather, the reverse is accurate: With personal responsibility comes greatness and personal power.

 
Now, while you ponder that thought for a moment, let me add one more note so you know where I’m coming from. Normally I wouldn’t make mention of this, but it’s relevant to this particular topic of personal responsibility.

First off, I’m transgendered; more so than that, I’m also Lithuanian, female, bisexual, and, interestingly enough, legally blind without my glasses since I have less than one-tenth of what’s deemed to be “normal” vision.
Why does this matter? Here’s the catch: it doesn’t. None of it does. And that’s what our topic is today: the death of the Oppression Olympics and the reclamation of personal responsibility.
 
Oppression and the Disadvantaged
So, you’re oppressed. You’re disadvantaged. You were dealt a shitty hand. A bad roll of the dice on your character sheet for reality. The whole world has it out for you, and it just isn’t fair that other people have it so much easier than you.
Guess what? That goes for almost everyone on the planet. Most people aren’t born into the lap of luxury. Most of us have had to scrounge from scraps in some way, shape, or form.
Here’s the big secret, though: Shit happens, and while some people cry about it, others go out and do something to change their fate by taking a direct hand in what happens to them.
