Cassie Jaye Discovers The Real Misogynists

By In a series of articles that come as absolutely no surprise to anyone even tangentially related to the men’s rights movement, David Futrelle has been attacking award-winning filmmaker Cassie Jaye over her film The Red Pill: Down the Rabbit Hole of Gender Politics. Futrelle hasn’t seen the film (no one has – it’s not finished yet), but based on Jaye’s trailer, he has decided that Jaye really needs to sit back and let her betters explain her subject matter to her. According to Futrelle, Jaye is a silly little girl who can’t possibly tackle a tough subject like gender politics. Not without his expert (and totally unbiased!) help, that is.
Jaye declined to give Futrelle or anyone like him a shred of editorial control over her film, which is what led to the Kickstarter campaign in the first place. Kickstarter allows people to give money to Jaye, but what Jaye does with that money is entirely up to her. She can blow it on hookers and coke, if she wants to, and call it an editorial expense. Obviously, Cassie is not going to do that, but she could, if she wanted to. The money is hers. No backer on Kickstarter, including the $10K donors who will get ‘Associate Producer’ credits, has any say, of any kind, over what the film looks like. One can confirm this by Googling ‘Associate Producer’, but that level of journalistic integrity is well outside the capabilities of someone like David Futrelle, who prefers the expediency of just making shit up. So much easier!

If you read really, really carefully between the lines there, it looks like the task Producer Cassie Jaye has assigned to the Associate Producer is to give her ten thousand dollars, for which they will receive mention in the opening credits, complimentary tickets to all screening events and share in any awards or accolades. ‘You will be given creative control over the content of the film’ is curiously not mentioned anywhere, in either the producer’s guild definition or Cassie’s own definition, but Futrelle never lets a little thing like fact get in the way of his narrative. Cassie is being funded by MRAs and therefore the integrity of her film is compromised, because nothing compromises a film like letting MRAs watch it!
The funny thing is MRAs represent only a small fraction of the backers for this film. Feminists declined to help Cassie at all, and the MRA crowd managed to scrape together just over $25K in funding for her, which is pretty good, but it wasn’t good enough. It wasn’t until Milo Yiannolopoulos brought the story, via conservative newsite Breitbart, to the cultural libertarian crowd that the Kickstarter really took off. Milo ‘manspread’ the Kickstarter to the legions of Breitbart readers who detest the left’s attempts to control who gets to speak, where, and under what circumstances, that the money really started rolling in.
So Futrelle had to up his slander game, and started attacking Jaye’s integrity as a filmmaker. Her awards, he sniffed, are ‘pathetic’. Just a scam. All bullshit. She’s not actually a good filmmaker at all. She’s a charlatan. A silly little girl with a camera who thinks she knows something about how to make documentary films. You can be certain that if Jaye’s film appeared to be a hit piece on men, her awards would be exemplary! She would be an outstanding filmmaker! A beacon of hope to every indie filmmaker out there! A paragon of womanly virtue!
But Jaye refuses to toe the line. Her previous films Daddy I Do and The Right to Love fell largely (but not wholly) into line with standard feminist doctrine, so she was lauded. Jaye talks about a bit of feminist push-back she got when she included a young woman who tearfully confessed that she regretted aborting her unborn child, but Jaye still managed to pass the feminist ideological litmus test, so she got a pass. The seeds of Jaye’s radical individualism are on display in her first film: she asks a woman who was gang-raped and molested by a foster brother is she blames all men for her sad life predicament, and the woman declines to do so. She will not blame all men for the actions of a few. Jaye includes that footage, and lets the audience decide whether the woman is right or wrong to take that stance.
Feminists were willing to indulge Jaye on those few counts, but expected her to get back in solid formation with The Red Pill. Jaye refused, and instead released this defiant video in which she refutes the feminist claims (led by Futrelle) that she lacks integrity and honesty.

One of the first words to come out of Jaye’s mouth is ‘misogynistic’. Jaye accuses Futrelle of being a misogynist in his attack on her. When questioned on her word choice, Jaye offered the following explanation:
Clearly angry, Jaye asks feminists to do a bit of soul-searching:

And then she gets right to the heart of the attack on her:

Indeed, Cassie. Find an attack on me, on Paul Elam, on any of the men’s rights activists, including Dr. Warren Farrell, whose advocacy for men and boys can be traced back to when feminists actually cared about all the human beings, that doesn’t use Futrelle as a source. Futrelle is pretty much the only source feminists use when attacking people who think men and boys should receive the same care and compassion as women and girls. Scratch the surface of Futrelle, and you find precisely what he claims to rail so heartily against: a misogynist.
When it comes right down to it, feminists and their supporters, hate women. They will publicly support, fawn over and cash up women who claim the mantle of damsel: if you agree to be a helpless, hopeless, hapless female, the feminists will support you. If you dare to be a woman who is a person, first and foremost, who rejects the claim that an ideology will determine how you think, act and feel, you will be attacked and scorned without mercy.
How dare you think for yourself?
The entire idea that women cannot think for themselves is called ‘patriarchy’, no? Feminists agree that women should not be given the freedom to come to their own conclusions, to interpret their lives outside the single lens of gender, to consider themselves human beings, diverse in experience and understanding. Women are to be thought of as a singularity, and rather than men controlling their lives, feminists will take the reins.

Woe unto the woman who refuses the halter and bit.
Wild horses and birds get along quite nicely, Cassie. Just sayin’….

As of this morning, Cassie’s Kickstarter is at $158, 025, on her way to $175 000, which will allow her to make a film of ‘quality without apology’. Please consider supporting Cassie Jaye, if you have not already done so. Defeating misogyny will not be easy, but this film will help to begin the process. Defeating misogyny begins with defeating those who hate women the most: feminists. Led, for the most part, by a man.

Go figure.
