"That's what Putin doesn't want in Ukraine, what we have allowed here. The US can hit the South African government within 2 minutes from that military base, they don't have to come all the way from the US, they are already here!"

Angelos Agathangelou: On a similar note, the word on the ground in The Greek Republic Of Cyprus is that the Cypriot people are generally appalled by the fact that the British, Americans and others use huge residual colonialist British military bases carved out of the limited land available on their small Greek island to attack their Christian and Muslim neighbours and they want those foreign military forces to leave so that they can take back their lands for the local Greek people's own peaceful use.
The general consensus is that colonialist British governments will never leave and the small approximately 1 million strong Greek Cypriot population have no hope in being able to compel them to do so.
Having said that, it's important to point out the dichotomy that the Greek people have nothing but love for the many civilian British people and other fellow Europeans who have settled on the island and made it their home and for the British and Europeans who regularly visit the island for their holidays.
The Greeks are only naturally concerned about the foreign military bases on their island and the loss of their limited lands to imperialist British bases and the use of those to attack their neighbours with whom they wish to live in peace.
