The Houthi demonstrators chanted “No to US intervention” during the protest on Sunday.
The protesters also condemned the recent US drone attacks in Yemen, which killed nearly 40 people across the country and wounded countless others.
“These US drones target Yemenis everywhere. Yemen is however like one body. If part of it is affected then the whole body suffers. We call on the Yemeni government to bring about a solution to these American attacks,” one of the protesters told Press TV.
On August 16, demonstrators in Sana’a also held a protest, censuring the government, which they say is supporting foreign agendas in Yemen while disregarding the demands of the public.
Supporters of the Houthi movement in Yemen are campaigning to raise public awareness on how the US drone attacks have affected the stability of the nation.
“This campaign… is for the benefit of the [Yemeni] nation and [it is] also to secure the safety of citizens,” said Ahmad Abu Taleb, a Houthi demonstrator.
The United States often uses its assassination drones to hit targets in Yemen.
Washington claims the drones target “militants,” but international human rights groups say the facts on the ground indicate that civilians are frequently killed in the airstrikes.
According to the Washington-based New America Foundation, the drone attacks in Yemen almost tripled in 2012.
Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Somalia are other major countries where the United States carries out killer drone attacks.
